Expired Domains | How to filter link profile?

Instead of buying a brand new domain, I'm looking for an expired domain to build a website (not PBN's), that has a decent authority.

When you search for an expired domain, what criteria's do you use to detect the quality of the links and if the domain was not spammed?

I have responded to this exact question probably a dozen times the last month alone.

Recognizing quality of backlinks is something that you have to learn yourself. Comes with experience. For quick checks of the backlink quality use Ahrefs DR for example or overall number of referring domains (spam check necessary in that case). Or use traffic as an indicator, Ahrefs will do well for those purposes.

Regarding how to check the history of the domains:

- Archive.org
- Domaintools historic screenshots
- Anchors
- Historic anchors
- Hosting history
- Backlinks themselves
