I have recently bought an expired domain with some nice metrics. I have checked the archive for it and it was lets say on home niche.

If i build a site on it on a completly different niche will that be good or it is not advised at all?

As long as it's has a clean history and you post good content there shouldn't be a problem. Meaning you'll be able to get it indexed and eventually have it ranked.

The reality is it's your content that defines the niche a site is in NOT the domain name.

It is not about the domain name because it is not an exact match is a brandable one. The backlinks it has are from the original niche that is why i was asking.

Exact match domains are a thing of the past. Brandable is the way forward. That way u can use it for multiple purposes.

If you have a site and content for that domain in home niche go for it, else build a niche that is comfortable for you. Nothing is going to happen if you repurpose an expired domain, oogle go by what is there in the current site. What was there earlier is a thing of past for Google.

Don't worry you'll be fine as long as the backlinks are clean and strong.
