they work really well. However, to get an aged/expired domain to work you need to vet it properly, which is really time consuming and requires a lot of patience + skill. You also have to restore it properly and use it as if you are growing the old site. It's not a piece of cake, so if you're new to this then you need to spend a few months understanding domains or it will all be a wash.

Yes, Expired domains are very good if the domain history and backlinks are good. It can provide a good boost.

On my opinion Expired domains are still running and their effectiveness depends on by the domain's history and importance, making it a viable approach for online businesses if handled properly.

Yes, but if you change the site niche... it's risky and chances are it won't work as you expect.
Ideally, catch an expired domain in your niche... but that's not a rule.

Yes, it is still working but little different. First create content but don't push backlinks, don't use 301. Wait until it will be indexed ( if You have good domain with backlinks it will be quite fast - about few days). Publish more content to have at least 10-20 posts. Then You are ready to put backlink to Your money site but remember to post fresh content at least once per month.

Expire domain works fine at 2023. But keep in eyes at domain history and Seo structure. Also, heavy and high-quality backlinks domain perfumed very good now a days.
