Expired Domain, When Will It Be Available?

Just saw a good domain name in GoDaddy when I searched for the name and according to the WHOIS, it had expired on March 3, 2012. However, when I try to buy it in GoDaddy, it says that I can only do a backorder? Is this the only option? How long will I wait for it to be available as a new domain? Thanks.

However, some registrars (like GoDaddy) may put such expired domain to auction, so maybe even if it's supposed to be expired and re-avail for register, it will be bought by someone else. I think the GoDaddy information in WHOIS is outdated. I used your link and it says that it will expire on 2013 not 2012 (which is what GoDaddy said). Thanks for that!
