Expired domain registration

I want to start a new site to rank for a very low competition keyword. I think I should go for an expired domain, register it, and publish content.
Is it ok to register a domain that was used for an English site and use it for a non-English site? Or I should register a domain that was used for a site of the same language?

That won't matter much. I have tried one domain which were having french content earlier and now English. All my keywords are ranking on Google Page one and Two.

It's fine, do not worry. And also, not that you have any other options if you want to use an expired domain. Finding something relevant, brandable, strong and within your country might be basically impossible.

Domain keyword would be a better option for you to think about rather than what was its old history.
