    Hi,

Just managed to get a good expired domain, I plan to build a new website on it.

My question is it has lots of links pointing to inner pages (obviously no longer there) that are not related to want to build so my questions is:

    1. Do I 301 these links to homepage
    2. Build these URLs and add content (not really close to my subject matter, same industry, different vertical).
    3. Something different, please advise.

    Many thanks!

build relevant on those pages, 302 not 301.

    302 explained here:

    google for "11-things-didnt-know-links-redirects"

    for reasons behind 302.

Either use a redirect to inner pages. Don't overdo it though, can be perceived as a footprint. Or at least recreate the URLs with "404 content not found", so the link juice gets crawled through the website. Not ideal, but doable.

Some people claim that it's treated like 302 redirect by Google, but honestly, I haven't seen any proof for this. Doesn't mean it's not true.
