Expired Domain Purchasing

Hello,

I recently purchased an expired domain which I really like.

It has no manual penalties in Search Console.

But it has around 120 backlinks coming from 2 referring domains which are topically irrelevant and look a bit spammy.

I checked it in the Wayback Machine and the last time it was indexed was 2016-2017. It was some sort of a corporate website for a Chinese company based in the UK.

My question is, will this negatively affect this domain's/website's future SEO?

And should I disavow all of those links? Because the website I'm planning to build is in a totally different niche/category.

I was told that I should preferably buy domains that have no history and aren't indexed in the Wayback Machine.

Let it go, man! Put it on your experience gaining tab, and move on!

You have to disavow all links if they are way to spamming .

Haha thanks for the reality check my man. Yeah, I just love the domain name because it's only 6-letters long, exceptionally brandable and easy to pronounce. I was quite surprised that it was available. Usually, domains like that have been taken since the early 2000s.

But yeah, the content/website wasn't written in Chinese, it was an English website for a UK company that also had offices in China.

But the backlinks are definitely low tier and spammy looking.

So that's why I was wondering, does the cool, short brand name offset the extra work that must be done to clear the domain and start from ground 0.

Trace of chinese history itself is a big red flag
Instead, buy an aged domain and build decent links to it

And I apologize if I came out as harsh, but I couldn't find a better way of keeping you out of something that would not work.

I suppose it could if you want it so badly. But it might still have penalties, even if you don't see any in your GSC (google are not as obvious with penalties as they used to).

No problems man, you weren't harsh at all.

But yeah, I already knew the answer but because I got attached to the domain name, I was looking for confirmation.

Totally agree with what you and all of the other good people here have said. So won't be using this domain and will enlist it on sedo to try and sell it.
