Expired Domain Grabber (Selfcoding)

I got interested in this expired Domain thing.
I want to code my own tool, but I need some hints.

The big question is: how I find out when a Domain expires?

Write a Spider to collect domain names.
But how I find out when a Domain expires?

If I go to who.is write in a domainname the only thing I get out is:

The big question is: how to find out?
What application language would you use

Do you think about of spidering alot of domains. Write it into a database and check if they'r available?
