Expired domain getting traffic without post

I bought this domain 3days ago and I noticed it's getting 100+ visitors daily to my homepage without any post I only install WordPress, no post yet.

I believe this will probably be no. How can I stop this or won't this affect my blog cause I'm trying to get traffic from Google, hope this won't affect my ranking if I start posting. I also noticed the domain has alot of back links.

you don't! You'd be a fool to want to stop free traffic coming into your site

I'm not sure here, you might actually lose the traffic if you build a site on it (but I'm not sure)

What you could do is use a tool like Archivarix to retrieve all of the content that this domain previously had, recreate that content fully (including the EXACT URL structure that it's had), and then wait for a few weeks for google to re-index the content.

Once this is done, you can either continue building the site up by posting more content (if it's an info site, otherwise - if it's local / business site - I don't think there's much you can do to grow it) and monetizing it, or 301 redirect the domain to one of the money sites that you have and which are closely related to this domain's topic.

Ha ha ... this was the first reaction came to my mind when I read his post. I thought he has probably found a goldmine.

No he will not lose the traffic. In fact the traffic might increase if he adds new articles those were not present earlier. Of course he has to retrieve the old ones first thing.

@Kolad Have you identified the source of the traffic? Is it organic or direct?

The old niche is app download and I don't really have interest in anything download

No he will not lose the traffic. In fact the traffic might increase if he adds new articles those were not present earlier. Of course he has to retrieve the old ones first thing.

I don't know the traffic source, maybe from the back links I'm not sure yet, but can it be a bot traffic?

I don't think it's bot, no one has interest in sending bot traffic to an expired domain they don't own.

I think this is real, genuine traffic (and my assumption is strengthened by the fact that I know from personal experience that download sites get residual traffic long after they've been shut down). So, I think you've got hold of a good domain...

such a pity! At least use it for something related to apps, software, or downloads. That's the best use IMO, anything else will either lose the traffic, history with google, or both...

Ok, lets assume that it is a bot traffic. Bot traffic is usually marketed with high bounce rate. But in your case as you said there is only a fresh Wordpress installation with no content. So in this case even a real human visitor will also 100% bounce.

So ideally restore the content first. All the content. If the content is huge then use the archivarix to retrive otherwise doing manually is also good if there are only a few pages.

Once you do that then it will be easier to analyze the traffic behavior.

OK, thank you for this, I think I will just buy another domain for the niche in my mind and use this for app download

I don't know anything about archivarix but I will check it out and try restore the old contents. Thank you
