If I buy a expired domain and I do not restore the original content, will it work? The content I am planning on writing is related.

yes it will be even better, if you do not restore the content from wayback machine.

All old backlinks will redirect to 404, how is this good?

why will it be better?? The reason you want to restore the content is to benefit from the potential (strong) links that THAT content might have, and also because - many times - that content gets re-indexed faster than new content and this means potential traffic to your site...

So, please explain, why it will be better. Thanks!

It wouldn’t.

Restoring the original content in the best way.

You get the most benefit from restoring said content and adding your own content to the site afterwards. Provided you’re not restoring like 1000 articles or something.

I think you misspoke and advised him to use the WayBack Machine, no ?

I would say go with fresh content thats gives you more value than the old one

Make sure to create high quality content and get backlinks from expired domain that can help you to boost

It will work even better that with old content. In any case i'll advise to rebuild internal URL's of old website.

you surely need to get content targetting the same keywords/topics at least,
not only for the homepage, that should be done for the major domain pages getting most of the links (all of them if possible),
optinally, it would even better if you use the same contacts/authors, etc... as well as the WHOIS information & all of the other details,

any link pointing to a 404 page is a total waste, restore as many as you can,
i tend to aim for domains with majority of links pointing to the homepage & some other pages which can be acceptable to avoid such problems

Yes, it can work if the new content is related to the original content and you set up proper redirects.

i think its better bcs expired domains often come with an existing backlink profile and these backlinks can help with search engine optimization (SEO) and potentially drive traffic to your new content and since the domain was previously active i think it might still be indexed in search engines which can help in getting your new content indexed faster but use tools like Wayback Machine to check the domain’s history and ensure it wasn’t used for malicious activities or spam in the past as this could negatively affect your SEO efforts

I advised not to use the content from Wayback, as its almost 100% that content is already scraped and used on other sites, So no point in posting the content again.

But why not simply restore the content to the way it was before and modify it as you like?

99% chance that the content is already scraped/spun and used on other websites and web 2.0 sites.

yep, it works if you focus on getting quality backlinks and relevant content

Yes, as some mentioned , though it is an expired domain but with relevant backlinks and content it will work.

Having all old backlinks redirect to a 404 error page is not ideal, as it can negatively impact the user experience and potentially harm your site's SEO. it's better to redirect them to working pages.

Like previous people said, it's better to recover old contents from WYB. The reason is obviously to reinstate old power . Then, to reduce crawling errors, since old URLs will be crawled initially when you re-activate the domain.

I'd suggest to recover the old contents (don' try to change the permalinks as much as you can to prevent crawl errors/warnings), submit them to index on search console. Then wait the progress. If they are indexed and started to gather impressions (or even better, get some clicks), then begin updating the old contents and occasionally post some fresh contents and do internal linking.

Even if you don't need to restore the original content, it's important to keep your new content relevant to the previous domain's topic to maintain the SEO benefits and leverage the domain's existing authority.
