Experiences with rewriting ranking articles?

Does anyone here have any sort of experience with rewriting already-ranking articles?
I'm more interested if anyone does it with the top 3 results for medium competition keywords.

Did you have any sort of good results?

When I say rewrite, I really mean rewriting a nice, quality article, not a 1$/500 words copy. Same outlines, different content ( maybe better? ).
How do you get around not using the same words/ideas?

Well i guess , if its rewritten professionally then i see no issues,

How long will be the articles ?

I've just rewritten one such article a month ago for one of my websites. And it doesn't rank anywhere

But that's because I need backlinks, which I never bothered to get for this particular article. But the point is that the article had turned out great, and it's just by mixing paragraphs from the websites ranking in top 10 for that keyword and then rewriting some of the sentences to make the article at least 80% unique. Well, it turned out 100% unique in the end anyway, which is cool.

So anyway, rewriting articles is not bad if you rewrite content that already ranks. The research is done for you, so all that's left for you to do is re-arrange the sentences / paragraphs you want, in order to make them convey the ideas you want, and then rewrite a few things here and there in your own words to make the article unique, and you're gonna rank

I tried this before for a pet niche site. Didn't copy the articles but I rewritten using grammarly. It was getting some traffic, I used an expired domain for it.

It's really hit and miss... and testing.
I've had a similar experience to @tazarbm. I remember I had an article in position 8 or so, so I decided to slightly improve it... went to position 30-40, after subtle changes. So 1 month later, I just reverted to the previous copy.
At the same time, many times, I've seen improvements.
That's why I prefer to "improve" several articles at the same time, some will improve & some will tank. Just keep the improved ones.

Well, that's using AI. While it does the same thing, I was more interested in a human-level experience.

You know, spending the time, putting your own style, but keeping it on the same level.

What I was looking for was the experience with ranking results. Did anyone see rankings, maybe on the same page as the original?
Without backlinks was even better, though with is also a possibility.

As in regards to SurferSeo, it does look great. I'm not using it yet. Still managing with inLinks and creating free accounts. You get 2 keywords until they ask for money. It gives you a list of entities you need to include. They fetch it from the top 10 ranking ones.

But the point of rewriting a top 3 article is that they are already optimized. So the entities/topical relevance is already there. The problem is to rearrange the wording, haha. That's why I'm really asking for some feedback.

you can use Jarvis for re writing articles , as well as spinner but isn't much traffic or ranking would be increase !
