What are user's opinions of CloudWays? Do you use for money site or just for trivial-sites or PBNs?

They seem like a great service for a affordable managed, dynamic-scaling VPS.

Although they seem to get a bad rap on some parts of Reddit.

This is from the mod of /r/webhosting

You (nor anyone else) should under no circumstance use Cloudways. They have an extremely subpar control panel they glue onto tier2 cloud provders VPSes and prevent you from having root access. Their support is entirely offshored into Pakistan and are largely clueless as to what is going on. There have been multiple cases of Cloudways employees stealing proprietary data from clients. If this happens to you, you will have no recourse as they are entirely based in Pakistan, with NO European, Asian, or American entity.

Digital Ocean, Vultr and Linode are absolutely tier 2 cloud providers. Last I looked you do not provide service on AWS, GCP, Oracle, or Azure.

I took you up on your comment to check LinkedIn, 66% of your staff is in Pakistan. When dealing with Cloudways staff you are statistically likely to interact with a Pakistani (not that is inherently bad, however there are many cultural differences and a language barrier.)

Malta is known as the pirate EU country where companies go to hide finances and legal problems. The fact you have a office here is in no way a good sign.

You should publish those metrics. I have done anonymous evaluations on your service and it really is no comparison to the scope and skills of a real managed WordPress or good shared hosting service. You have no business putting yourself in the same bucket. The only positive I can give you is that response time has usually been acceptable.

Even just ten days ago you DIRECTLY are posting blog/link spam:
Also marketing strategy always comes from the top. You have 32 people in marketing group! I worked at one of the largest hosting companies in the world in the past and we had a team of 5!
It is no wonder there is Cloudways spam everywhere.

Then there was the issue of an employee of CW stealing someone's content:

TLDR: An employee of Cloudways stole my website content and was using it as a template to build a website for his client on the side. Cloudways’ support/customer success team played dumb for hours as I tried to get an explanation/ resolution. Eventually they admitted to it and offered an apology.

Seems the "we hired bad employees" shtick is a recurring theme.

Wondering what the community thinks of them or these issues?

cut out the middleman and make your site directly on Vultr for example...Cloudways is just a middleman charging a commission to do the dirty work of installation and migration for you

it may seem difficult, but there are several tutorials on youtube about it, it is not that complex and it is worth in the long run, in a few hours you can learn

I'd rather leave security in the hands of experts than take the risk myself.

Cloudways sucks. I was once paying around $50 a month for their premium SSDs from DigitalOcean but the site still loaded slowly and the TTFB was very high even with WPRocket and Varnish enabled.

I was so pissed which is why I switched to $12 DO Premium Intel SSD + $5 ServerPilot server and my sites load blazingly fast.

So, don't go for cloudways, cut the middleman BS and go for Digital Ocean. It's the best value for money hosting.

The problem is that people don’t want to learn the hosting related stuff, that’s why companies like this exist. Why not deploy a server directly on cloud services such as Vultr, AWS, Google Cloud and Digital Ocean?
There are quite a lot of tutorials available on Youtube. Because one mistake can ruin your business.
If you have enough capital, go with Google cloud or AWS, if you not have then deploy Vultr High Frequency server with Open Lite Speed, the best and chepest option for a superfast wordpress site.
