Hi,

I've been reading this forum for about 2 years, finally decided to sign up.

I've got years of experience with Wordpress and WPMU and I like to think, I know everything about it. Sites based on WP make for 90% of my online revenue. I've started my first WPMU blog farm (was hanging out on netpond then) more than 2 years ago when it wasn't so user-friendly and popular. Had to hard-code much stuff ;)

If you have any problem with WP, don't know what plugin to use, how to use wp query_posts, decode a footer or just anything, please ask here and I will be happy to help.

Please don't send PM's regarding help, so that everyone can benefit from my insights.

Just please don't ask me questions for which you can easily find answers on google like: "is there a seo plugin for wordpress?". My service comes with no guarantees. I will try to come here each day to help as well as I manage to.

I hope this thread will be a beginning for me of giving out instead just taking from this forum :)

Thanks for your offer, greatly appreciated. I'd like to ask you which is the simplest and fastest way (for a noob like me, lol) to create a 1 simple page which I need to create to promote CPA offers (I want to use the cparedirector plugin in it). I am trying to learn but it seems so overwhelming! Thanks

Just setup wordpress, delete the about page, create your single page and go to settings/reading setting and set this page as the home page. This way there will be nothing more on your site.
 
That's a good start solving issues. I am not sure whether it is wordpress issue, but as you reply with good results I am posting my query here..

Last week I changed my hosting to new one, due to an issue with the autoblog load on the old server. It took me 3-4 days to setup to the new server and update the database, now the site is ok and running with old posts and updating new posts, but the problem is, I lost the SE traffic almost to 90% loss..

Before new posts get indexed so fast in google, even I get traffic within 10 mins of new posts, now the posts are not crawling, I checked the plugins and they seems works fine. The autoblog site is not deindexed in google, as I checked with site:mysite.com and it shows all the pages, even just now I checked CACHED homepage by google is also current. But the posts links are not getting indexed as early and traffic is down.

Do you have any solution for this? By the way, on that 3-4 days I redirected this autoblog to my another site. Is this the issue causing the SE traffic? How I can get the position as before.

It's hard to tell there can be many factors. People say that google ranking is dependent on the physical localization of the server, so if you want to rank in USA you should have a rig there.

You could've accidentally changed the permalinks structure. Check that out.

If you have redirected the domain, all the SEO juice went to another site. Cancel the redirect in google webmaster and in htaccess. I'm not sure how long will it take to revert the changes, but I'm guessing about 14 days.

I checked the permalink and its just fine there as early, I think its the issue because of temporary redirect.. .

you just make me feel good about the 14 days issue, let me hope for that, thanks for the help... appreciated and repped
 
last year Matt Cutts tried and 301'ed his blog to a new domain. It took a while for his rankings to be reinstated. Don't worry the links are still there, so google will follow up eventually.

Thx, really appreciate your offer. My questions. Can you describe how to rapidly deploy multiple wordpress blogs? ie what is the easiest way to start maybe 100, or even 500 blogs quickly?

In one of my photo blogs, I'm using WP Videotube and Thumbnail for Excerpts set up similar to the Techchuck website. How can I show thumbnails of the videos on the homepage, similar to the way that I show thumbnails of the images from the posts.

I'm not sure where to post this but since it's a Wordpress hacked site thought I'd try BH SEO.

I have a client who has been on my to-do list so yesterday I got around to him ... just a little job.

When I logged in to his WP admin I didn't have all the permissions (like the plugin folder went missing) so I emailed him for admin login info. I figured his last developer just kept him away from pressing buttons but NO his site was hacked.

There is a bunch of link injection after </html> and crap like:

This goes on for miles with all kinds of links and KW tags. I don't know what to do for this guy and this is not what I contracted for but he's screwed now. Also, no backups (this is just an average Joe who knows nada). Also, he's running WP 2.7.

Any hackers out there who can advise me? I was going to run the WP exploit-scanner plugin but can't get around this login issue. I don't know if he's got php files that are infecting the site or what.

Okay BH'ters help me out here. I do this kind of work so I can make money for my PPV accounts but this is ridiculous.

AFAIK the footers are often encoded with base64 or another algorithm. You can find the decoders on the web. afterwards you often have to replace some numbers and letters which is done by a php function. Paste the footer I will gladly show you how to do it :)
 
could you tell me how to multiquote on this forum? What should I do after I click several multiquote buttons?

1. Personally I like WPMU, you can do anything with it, including hosting blogs on different ips/domains from 1 admin. There are also 3rd party tools like autoblogged, wp-robot etc. You need to find out which suits you best. WPMU is free, but there's a learning curve.

2. I don't know of any free solution for this.

I have started using WP recently.

I use 1and1 for my hosting and am trying to find out how to create a sandbox/subdomain (so I can have a sample or test blog to see the changes before I make the blog go public)

Any idea how to do this with 1and1?

Thanks for a great thread - I've picked up some good stuff here.

My question is a pretty broad question - more of a discussion point.

What are some of the implications of using WPMU as an autoblog platform, with regards to how the various autoblog plugins (WP-Robot, Autoblogged, CC, etc...) perform in a WPMU install.

Any special considerations to keep from overextending your shared hosting or VPS?

Any special considerations in using WPMU to avoid traceable footprints?

My first experiment with WPMU about 6 months ago was disastrous when it came to domain mapping. It may have been because I was using Media Temple hosting, which is quite non-standard....

I'm going to give WPMU another try, and am really interested in how to use a single WPMU install as my single autoblog admin panel and map my sites to many different domains and many different IP's.

If you could pass any wisdom in this area or point out any pitfalls that I should avoid, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
