Excessive Hoarding, Are You Guilty?

I am the exact opposite of a hoarder. I clear out anything I don't need and anything I think I don't need. If I haven't used it in the last three months or it isn't contributing to a purpose, it gets sold, given away, or tossed. It makes me really think when I buy stuff though because of that reason. :)

Zen! that's the ideal.

Do you feel any resentment, any guilt at all when throwing stuff away?

I used to hoard physical stuff. Then when I moved country I threw out nearly everything. Reduced my life to 2 suitcases and around 7 or 8 boxes. I feel so much better for it.

I still hoard virtual stuff though. I practically never delete any files at all. I also hoarded porn, I was up to around 300 GB until one day I decided to delete the entire collection.

I regretted it a little after, but not too much. Since then I have just watched streaming porn. Recently I downloaded all the streams I had watched using jdownloader. It racked up to about 200 GB again! lol

No, I don't put any value on physical things. The only thing that has any sentimental value to me is my photo album with childhood pictures. Everything else can be replaced. I also had to move a lot as a child, so I'm used to losing stuff. No big deal to me anymore, and I hate clutter.

You can sum up my policy this way:

If it don't eat I need one, if it does, I have to ask my wife.

My wife is like Marusia, she was a navy brat, and anything not in use gets tossed or painted. So its a humorously vicious circle, either I use it or it gets painted one month and tossed the next.

And I don't dig em back out. Ain't going there with that red-headed Irish lass.

Just Finished Sorting and Clearing Everything I Own.
It feels kind of good when everything is cleared out.

But now It feels so lonely, I have nothing left now.

Yep, I also keep many virtual goods(downloads) and stuff that I find here on BHW and all over. Some I will probably never get around to viewing. I have so much that my HD is near full (thank goodness for external drives).

I am also a book lover so I get books at yard sales, library sales and just about anywhere that is cheaper than full price. I am sure that I will never read every single book that I have. One time I went to a yard sale and this lady was clearing out antique 1st edition books from 1800's to 1980's some of them signed. She was just tired of having them all and gave them to me for free. Wow was my hoarding happiness radar working overtime that day. :)

Anyway long story short I have been trying to work on clearing out all of the stuff in my life as well as I think it takes too much attention away from important things and clutters the mind as well. Some days I am more successful than others but overall I am slowly making progress! :)
