I need Excel or a program like it but I have no interest in buying the whole "Office" thing for a year anyone know a way I can get this a bit cheaper or a program like it? I have windows 8 :( , and also a mac. Cheers

I use both ms office and open office. Still, I prefer Microsoft office. The best place to buy it for cheap would be eBay IMO. You can also get the student version for a lot cheaper. If you happen to know a graduating student who no longer needs their copy, you can buy it from them for a steep discount.

You can just use open office or libre office. Good free alternatives. If you really want to buy, look on ebay, or g2a. I saw some people selling stuff like that there.

I refuse to buy Microsoft for a year. I use LibreOffice and Google's range of programs. I think theirs is called Google Sheets.

Both of them do the exact same thing Excel does, just for free.

Here is what you've to do:

  • Download an original MSDN ISO of office 2013. It will be roughly around 700 Mbs.
  • Run setup and click customize/custom install.
  • only select Excel and deselect the others.
  • Activate using microsoft toolkit from Mdl.

Best solution to your problem is downloading from torrent sites. However some excel alternatives include Google Docs, Apache OpenOffice, LibreOffice, spread32, Gnumeric, Zoho Sheet...

Download the ISO file from torrents and use an activator or trial reset program and there you go: Office free forever!

Thanks mates, I did a search on torrents about a week ago and didn't have much luck. Cracking programs seems to be harder then it was back in the day, or maybe I'm just getting old. Ha

I use one called Kingsoft. Does all I need it do and its free.

If you don't want to buy a legitimate licence, and don't want to installed it cracked, you can go to any of the "hacking" forums and buy a key for cheap. They source them from MSDN (which means your key won't get blocked) but it is not legal.

Yep you are getting old. I am not proud to say this but I haven't paid for any big software (office, windows, photoshop,..) in my life.

Take a look at Apache OpenOffice or LibreOffice. They are both very good open source alternatives and of course free.
I've been using LibreOffice for years and I love it. It looks and works just like Microsoft Office.
