I keep hearing that in order to have any chance of success on IG you need "viral content".
In some niches viral content either doesn't really exist or appears very rarely.
Also sometimes it's not what's on the image but the copy (like last year's swimsuit giveaway that got shared millions of times).
To have a better chance of understanding what has a chance of becoming viral, could experienced IGers post great examples of viral content, in any niche?
I'm sure there'll be lots of valuable lessons to be learned.

Viral content is simply what everybody in a certain niche is going crazy over. Every niche has something like this, you just have to figure out what it is and how bad the competition is.

Find other pages in your niche, study what they post, copy it if its acceptable (something like a viral video the page didn't actually film), ask your audience if there interested in the content you post. Asking your audience questions like that also helps with your engagement.
 
Viral Content Just Means A Post That Has A Good(Or Crazy) Amount Impressions Even From People Who Aren't Following The Page.

You Can Consider An Ex Of Viral Post Like : An Account With 100K Followers Posts A Picture/Video And That Picture/Video Gets Around 600K-1M Impressions/Likes/Views , This Has A Potential To Get Even More Engagement And This Post Gets Re-Posted By Relatively Smaller Accounts .

Even If I Did Post A Link That Would Not Be Beneficial For You, Cause You Can't Judge A Content To Go Viral .
Just Cause A Cat Pic Went Viral Doesn't Mean All Cat Pics Go Viral.
Would You Be Absolutely Able To Predict " Gangnam Style " Or " The Swimsuit " Or " White & Gold / Black & Blue Dress" Would Get The Attention They Got By Seeing Them For The First Time ?

What Actually Works Is That You Re-post Content That Does Well In The Big Pages In Your Niche When You Are A Small Account.
What May Go Viral Is Posting Something Intriguing Which Has A Call To Action On The Post , Ex The Swimsuit Or The Dress Which Required People To Act Or Posting Something People Have Never Seen Before.

If You Wanna Blow Up In Insta That Is A Very Slim Chance.

He makes a great point in this article:
"Most importantly, remember that before millions will share your video — you’ll need a single influencer to share it first."
And that's a thing I've been wondering: isn't viral content just good content that's been shared by a big influencer?
He had the huge advantage of know the Epic Mealtime team.
Anyway in my niche there's no such thing as viral content, so I'm just trying to figure out what would be the best content to put out there.

Not true. I forget the name. SamitCantSing or something like that. HIs sister, who only has 1500 followers, tweeted his IG post and it went super viral last week.
Before, there was another guy who did a headswap video. woodsie_tv . It went viral without any large seed.

I guess what the author of the article was saying that if you want to make viral content for business you need to have a big influencer on your side that will kickstart the process.
Kind of like buying powerlikes.

Humor is always a recipe for virality.
The whole Harmon Brother's operation grew with this strategy - they are the ones who make the unicorn poop videos and the godilock mattresses. Their videos are up to 12 minute in length and people sit and watch through them.

That is an example of how businesses can be viral. However, it may not align with their core brand values.
 
Travel, lifetsyle, fashion, and beauty niches are really viral tho. These are the niches of big influencers.
 
What I always see in my explore is hot babes and love texts. So I think they have a high chance to go viral
 
You want to know what viral content looks like?

Go and follow the explore page. Keep an eye on it for a day, look what's trending. Try to find things which are related to your niche.
Another way would be to find your biggest competitor with the maximum number of followers and activity.
See which of their posts receive the maximum number of likes, analyze the factors which match in all those posts.

Try to see what they're doing differently which you are not, it's all about trial and error in the beginning.
The more you post and analyze, the more you will learn and the higher the chances of your posts getting viral.
