I started to make enough money now that I have to file for those tax returns XD. I was just wondering why exactly and when do IRS come knocking on your doors?

year or so after the money is due. not paying and not filing are different. if you dont file eventually you can go to jail. if you owe them money the odds of them knocking on your door for a few years are pretty low. its done through letters and collection agencies.

Not Filing is Criminal, Where as Not Paying is Civil.
They can't put you in jail for not paying a debt.
But they can put you in jail for the crime of not filing.
So file and either tell 'em to get stuffed, or bite the bullet and pay what is owed...if you Don't pay it you'd better make sure all your valuables are in your cousin Andrews name, as you will never be able to own anything without them taking it for owed back taxes.
But that beats Jail IMO
