Exact match domains - yes or no?

How well do exact match domains attract traffic compared to a more catchy/original domain name (i.e. loseweightfast vs p90x)?

Exact Match Domains are still great to provide an initial boost.
 
There is an opportunity for both...

As they are dependent on the amount of Content - SEO and much more, that is put into the sites...

The days are long gone when you launched a site and presto traffic flowed in...
 
yeah, EMDs are still doing good nowadays, just make sure prior registering to check the history of the domain..
 
Gotta be a bit more careful with EMD these days. They still work great and I'm still ranking a bunch of them.

However, there are a lot of EMDs that have had previous owners who did not renew because their site was penalized, so you have to learn to look out for that before buying. Almost every good EMD has been owned by someone at this point (in most non-obscure niches).
 
Exact Match Domains still work great provided you produce decent content and play it all white hat. As others have said you have to watch out for penalized domains.
 
thin EMDs tend not to survive that long, yet EMDs with tons of quality and fresh content still work
 
Fresh EMD with new content are working well. Don't bother it it's an aged EMD.
 
They still work well as long as they don't seem spammy and you add good content and links.
 
Why one had to be careful with EMD?

I'm just asking because I bought on BST a keyword research service for am EMD with high cpc on adsense and around 1K exact matches in U.S. The .com domain wasn't available so I bought the .org
Soon after that I found out that someone owned this domain around one year ago and even made some youtube videos to promote it.
The ranks of the domain are dancing between #70 and #150 although it was suppose to get on top20 easily...
I'm a newbie but to me it looks like the previous owner did something wrong on Google eyes and thats why he didn't renew it. Could my adsense account be compromised?

Is DomainTools a good website to use or are their better options to find the history of a domain?

And at what point is a domain normally considered aged?
 
If you can find it, then go for it.
But I doubt you can find it because most EMD are taken nowadays.
 
They Still works very well, What point most domain normally considered aged, But fresh booking Domain work fabulous with SERP.
 
I have had amazing results (top 3) with my last 3 EMD's and not too many backlinks with new content.
 
A fresh new domain should be preffered. New doamin with an exact match would do wonders for you in SERP, so if you get exact match domain go for it. However you would still have to be patient in terms of traffic as it would increase gradually. Ensure your content is SEO oriented and you have quality backlinks for your site.
 
I have had success with NEW EMD's in the following case:

1. Put unique content
2. Let the site marinate for 3 months (put 1-2 new pages with content per month)
3. Start building links after 3 months (EDIT: Quality Links! No spun sh*it).

Always worked good this way. Maybe Im just being paranoid :)
