I've just grabbed a 6000 p/m global EMD .com with earning potential in the camera niche. I see there is a .net already ranking for the same exact match in position 3. My question is, do you think it will be possible to outrank that site relatively easily? If so, what would be the best course of action. Thanks!

Hard to say without knowing anything about that site and how many backlinks it has.

It totally depends upon your hardwork, you can beat it if you work hard 2-3 months continously on .com domain

how would people be able to tell you that without knowing about the competition? It is pretty difficult to answer this question since there are many factors involving SEO, not just the domain to outrank competition. Check how old is the domain, the backlinks pointing towards it, the On-page optimization, etc. The domain is not the only thing that matters in seo

So, the reality is you went out and spent money on something you have no clue about. Number 1, you keyword prob gets like 1900 LOCAL hits or something. NEVER USE GLOBAL.

Seriously, check the competitors backlinks and the backlink quality. Can you get MORE than him? Will they be the SAME quality?

Do those 2 things and you got it.

Agreed. Never go for a global search volumes. You should look local search volumes and the CPC before promoting any niche cz if you end-up getting an EMD which have <1K traffic you will be just wasting your time by building site, getting backlinks and everything after it.

OK, local monthly US is 1000 and CPC average is $1. I'm still gonna give it a go as I've nearly finished building the site and I intend to turn it into quite a thorough review site. If I optimize well enough, surely I'll bring in more than the quoted minimum of the local searches, I've done alright ranking without EMD domains before so lets see...
