I started a wordpress site about a week ago and i have managed to get all the pages indexed except the homepage. does anyone know why this would happen?

Just build some links to it and make sure you have internal links pointing to it. It will get indexed. And yes I've had this happen to me before.

My homepage got indexed yesterday and now I am on the bottom of the first page for a keyword with 110,000 exact monthly searches ! This is my first site I'm pretty exited im going to try to submit some articles today and see if I can climb towards the top

Watch out for the "G Bounce".. Where your site is indexed, high.. Then falls off the map, then it starts working it's way up the SERPS as time goes on.

CAPITALIZE NOW with a consistent strategy of hand crafted backlinks, backlinks to those backlinks, and put some junk traffic to the site.

That tends to keep the "bounce" from dropping you so low that it takes forever to move up in the SERPS once the "bounce" happens.

Good look man . i will do that . thanks for the heads up

Make sure your site has a proper structure. It's a good idea to have all your internal pages linking back to your homepage.
This kind of internal linking will help your homepage to rank higher in the SERP for your main keyword.
