I was watching Paranormal Activity 2 last night and it reminded me of some stuff that happened to me a couple of years ago (but obviously not to the extent that happened in the film!).

I like to keep an open-mind and outlook on these type of things, as there are so many things in this world that us, as humans, cannot fully comprehend. Just because we don't understand something, it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

The area of ghosts has always held my interest/kind of creeped me out a bit, and I have never fully come down on one side of the argument or other - ie do they exist or don't they.

So, I would like to hear from you lot if you have ever had any experiences in this area. Have you seen what you think is a ghost, or had something truly unexplainable happen to you?

I would be really interested to know.

    Thanks

If you liked number 2 definitely watch number 3, it completes the story. It will also get you ready to watch the 4th paranormal activity which comes out on the 19 of October or something like that.

Also most of the times after you watch movies like these you kind of put your senses on edge and change ordinary sounds in your head.

Definitely recommend Grave Encounters, that one is pretty creepy as well lol

Haha I don't mind scary films, but there is something about the P.A franchise that just creep me out.

I've never seen anything but had some creepy 'lights turning themselves on' and 'things falling over' type stuff happen in my house, and the house is only 8 years old so not even that old. The dog also went mental when it happened so I'm pretty sure she sensed something.

My wife has seen things a few times (not in our house thankfully) and my mum saw a ghostly figure walking down a hotel hallway a few years ago.

I'm a Mulder on this I think...I want to believe but want to see it myself.

My computer was on screensaver and it snapped out of it by itself. Freaked me out a couple of times.

But seriously, I haven't had any major experiences and hope to never experience anything paranormal.

It's discussions like this that keeps me wanting to find out more about these "ghosts". I've watched all three Paranormal Activity, and I'll have to say they creep me out. Tbh, I'm all in with illfounded21's statement; I'm totally fine with scary movies, but there is something about the P.A franchise that just creep me out. Here in my place, I've heard a lot of weird scary stories ranging from a little girl roaming around in the dark behind a tree all by herself, bikers suddenly falling off their bike when they cross one specific street, and the scariest imo, exorcisms. God, I'm having shivers all over me right now. Let's keep this discussion rollin', I really love reading people's experiences.

When I said at the start in my OP about something in the film reminding me of something that had happened to me a couple of years ago- this is what I meant:

**This is 100% true, make of it what you will. I have no need to lie. Just recalling this puts me at unease**

I was staying at a friends house in the holiday, his house is a really big and old and he had often said he thought his house was haunted. I often laughed it off, thinking it was something he was just saying to people as a joke etc.

Well one of the days I was staying round his, he got up and went to work, and I planned to just have a chilled day and stay at his, look after his dogs till he got back in the evening. So in the morning I was alone in the giant house (5 stories) and so went down to get some breakfast.

As I got down to the ground floor I could hear talking coming from the living room, really clear voices talking. I instantly thought to my self- 'shit I must have left the TV on last night', because in truth I remember struggling to turn it off before going to bed ( I went to bed after my mate because he had work).

So I walk towards the living room, the voices were REALLY loud and clear- I entered the room 100% expecting and sure I was going to see the TV on, but when i stepped through the door the voices stopped and the TV was off. I was now standing in a completely silent house. That was creepy, considering I wasn't near a road or anything, no-one else was in the house/could be heard in the house. It made no sense.

So eventually I shook the feeling and thoughts off, grabbed some breakfast etc then had a shower. The shower looks directly at the bathroom door, which I had closed before getting in. Mid-way through the shower the door opens up. I stood there watching the door slowly open- genuinely expecting there to be someone standing there once it opened- however there was no-one there, and I had shut the door quite firmly. So I stopped my shower and tried to stop myself thinking weird thoughts about the house.

40 mins/1 hour later went down checked on and let the 3 dogs in the house, I went to the living room (where I had been earlier) and switched on the TV. A couple of minutes later all the dogs walk into the room....

**And this is what reminded me when watching P.A 2 last night**

All of a sudden all 3 of the dogs go nuts, they all start growling and barking 100% anger and loudness into one of the corners of the room. There is nothing there in the corner, literally just a blank corner of the room. The dogs has been so calm and relaxed up till then, and they went crazy. All 3 were growling, backs-arched and barking all at the identical same corner where there was nothing.

At this moment i'm scared, the other things that had happened I didnt find too scary at the time, just odd. But this did scare me.

The dogs continued to go nuts for like 3-5mins until they all suddenly stopped and ran back downstairs to where they sleep, leaving me on my own - scared shitless.

I was so creeped out I had to ring another friend who lived near by to come over, as I couldn't be on my own anymore in the house.

When my mate arrived back from work I told him all of what had happened, and he grinned and told me some stuff that had happened to him in the house - which were more scary than my stuff- but he said he didn't care and was used to it.

I don't tell many people about this but I do absolutely believe in 'spirits'.

My mom passed away when I was 7 and about 6 months later my family moved to California. The way the houses were in my neighborhood was that the houses were back to back with streets in front and an alleyway between the backsides. Well, since mischievous kids would often break the lights in the alleyway, most the of home owners never replaced them and they were almost completely dark.

I was on my way walking home down the alleyway one night (yea, I know... wtf was an 8 yr old walking home by himself? But keep in mind, this was 40 years ago - and it probably wasn't too late - I don't remember exactly). In either case, I heard a small noise behind me and figured it was a cat in a garbage can or something. I turned around and saw the lighted image of my Mom. Almost immediately after seeing the image, both the image and the light faded away. Now some people would say it was my mind wanting her to be there... but where did the light come from then? Hard to imagine light in my opinion.

I ran home although thinking about it years later it wasn't because I was scared of her, it just startled the crap out of me. In my mind when I think about it - I think she showed herself to protect me from something - to get me to get my butt home pronto cause something could have happened if I didn't.

So do I believe? YES - without a doubt in my mind.

Hahahah, that reminds me of me too. I already live with a mate, shared house, so whenever we watch a scary movie we invite a few friends for the night and just have a mini party along with the movie.

Paranormal Activity aren't one of those movies which scare you on the spot. I was more scared thinking back about it when I was in bed, and my bedroom is pretty much the same layout as the one in the movie with the door on the right of me.

Ah, I would've pissed on myself if that happened to me, really. I've always hated scary shit that happens in a bathroom. Oh, and when those dogs were barking, were they all barking to just that corner or did one of the dogs bark towards something else? I'd like to know if those dogs saw only one "ghost" or even worse, more since you mentioned you heard voices in the living room.

On a second thought, can you post what your friend experienced in the house? Damn, this is getting interesting.
