Euro 2008

Yah, well I didn't say they would win. Would like em to because that is my background.

Saw Sweden against Russia live during the World Cup 94.

Never been so terrified in my life. I was 9 years old and there were fuckn riots at the game. Drunk Sweds thrownin beers, Army Rangers in full riot gear. It wasn't a happy time for a 9 year old.

But the game was sweet haha.
Sweden beat Rom on WC 94 on penalties :( also Rom beat US in the groups ..was cool :)

It remains tough but in all honesty these always remain the top picks in europe, especially at this point in time:

Portugal, Spain, Germany, Italy, France

If i were to bet id surely put it on one of the first 4 though. But then again anything can happen, Greece came out of nowhere in 2004 to win the title. Highly unexpected....

If you would have had 1000$ on Greece that year to win with a bookeeper , you would have banked $40,000!

Odds were 1:40

Yah, the US just sucks nuts. Every WC they tell us, "This time will be different."

But every time we have that same dumb ass coach. I believe the next WC will be better for the US but we still probably won't go far.

And its not like we lack the talent, we have plenty of good players.

Agree !!!

I believe, there will be more good US players in the future.
To me, the only reason is because soccer isn't a popular sport in US.
Once it become like basketball or baseball, then US can be one of the best team in the world.

Count my 2 cents.

Yah, but it will never be like BBall. Maybe in 30 years, but not any time soon. Americans aren't particularly fond of futbol.

Which is the main reason Beckham was brought over to America. Haha, he is making millions while some of the highest paid MLS players are only making slightly over a mil a year. Kinda funny.

Most American's think American Football is the worlds most popular sport. Unkowningly that its only really popular in one country as opposed to the Worlds Game... futbol.

you are right about the US smitty... The appointment of coaches is definitely not our strength. Like Rabid said, if it was more mainstream it would help some, neither is our biggest problem. Our athletic ability is unquestionably spot on with other countries but we truly lack creativity in the attacking third from our mids and strikers. If that were to improve so would our chances. If the youth coaches were better with tactics and allowing creative play rather than stifling it in most cases it would help the cause.... Anyway, can't wait!

All awesome points and I agree totally.

Luckily when I played premier our trainer was from Europe. Hence, we got to experience what that type of football was really like. We were the best team in the league for 4 years and nobody could figure out our secret haha.

That's it. They are slowly getting there.
I believe one day, they will be. But 30 years is a long-long time..

Yah, too bad IMO Beckham is way passed his prime. I personally never thought he was that great, but of course he has the look and the name.

He has made some good plays during the season in which he was injured for the first part. Don't really watch the MLS though, just watch FSC.

Thankfully every one of mine was from different countries (argentina, england, wales, arabia)... quite different but all tactical and creative... Too bad my athletic ability only took me to semi pro and on to coaching... Oh well!

Not bad.... I played through college but that is about it. Kinda desired to do different things.

yeah I skipped playing in college and went straight to semi pro... Thought it was a good idea then, not so much now. I guess that decision made me who I am today and shaped my life so I can't complain. Playing in college would have taken me IU and away from my now wife... Not knocking your athletic abilities by any means, but from the sounds of sine of your posts and stuff it sounds like chasing other desires has treated you well!

anyone trying to monitize from this event ? maybe niche blog (related to euro 2008) ???

Ya, I played since around 5 but as I got older my desire to pursue it became less and less. I think I just got sick of the constant training and life control. I would have more soccer homework than school homework most nights haha.

I also starting my business around 18 years old and I fell in love with that. So soccer kind of took a backseat. Frankly, I wish I didn't even go to college haha. Sure the partying was great, met my current girlfriend there, but it taught me nothing of running a successful business. I would've rather taken the money and invest it into my future the right way.

Go Poland! :D

The only bit of blood in me that is actually in Euro 2008, come on! :p

For today:

18:00 Austria - Croatia I'll go with 1
20:45 Germany - Poland I'll go with 1 as well
