So i have been researching how to get my products listed on the first page of any Etsy keyword. Well this moring one of my products was featured on the first page for the keyword POKEMON. So i saved the url and now my theory is if i send a bunch of random traffic to this url will Etsy move meup in the ranks? I am still unsure of there algorithm but lets find it out bhw!

etsy.com/listing/168456809/pokemon-all-over-print-t-shirt-pikachu?ref=sr_gallery_30&ga_search_query=pokemon&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all&ga_facet=pokemon

Getting listed on the 1st page of results is quite easy. Maintaining that position is more difficult. Constantly updating tags and descriptions along with renewing does the trick. Anyone else out there with any thoughts?

Thats all good information. I also heard that it has to do with the amount of favorites your product gets. And if the item has views from social networks is a plus too!

With regards to search results, as far as I am aware only one product from your shop can appear on the 1st page of the results at any time. I was led to believe that this is to maximize the number of shop owners shown and to avoid one person dominating the results. You can however saturate the rest of the pages and I have 6 or 7 products on pages 2-4. The key to this is keyword diversity and renewing.

i would be very interested to hear what anyone else has experienced but people seem to be a bit tight lipped about this topic.

Just like any other platform, sharing favorites and driving outside traffic to it gets you ranked on first page. After leaving etsy alone for a year and a half I am back in the saddle. I set up a page 2 weeks ago and am pulling 1,000 hits per day off of it.... You have to swap favs and use that Treasury like a mo fo

Thats great info! Are you still doing digital items? And when you say swap favs im not really sure what you mean?

Others favorite your items and you favorite theirs in return. Following others increases your followers so when you post new products or renew them, a larger group sees them and gives you more exposure. Same with treasuries in that the more you are featured in one the more exposure you get.

Why not just create a bot that makes accounts and adds favs?

I've never used etsy but do they use PayPal only as there payment method?Or is it setup different?

You can either accept paypal or, depending on what country you are from, you can setup a shop payment account that accepts credit or debit cards

I just wanted to share a shop that is 3 months old and already made around $18,000 https://www.etsy.com/shop/yesinthis

anyone figured if they're doing anything? or just natural popularity? i did see a 46min listing get 150 views and 29 faves of the bat... seems a little over the top.

Only 8 FB likes on the Shop Page. But these are notes I've picked out:

Gender is Female (gender known as friendly, non-threatening)
Tanktops based on Pop Culture (gives insight to the audience there)
Average Item Sold is $15
272 Active Listings - 87 Weekly Sales (32% of total Listings sold)
0 Feedback....???

If you say they made $18k, why does the math lead to $3915+?

MY BAD: Didn't realize the post is freaking old. :ugh1:

Commenting on old helpful threads like this is actually a good thing.

Don't they include the conversion rate in their 'ranking algorithm'? - if you send 1000 visitors and none of them really interested in your product(don't buy) - you hurt conversion rate of this particular listing.
Etsy wants more products to be sold on their platform, so they should display best performing ones on top - correct me if i'm wrong.
