So... I was posting to @teamYouTube on X, hoping (again) there was some way to access my very old account (not strikes, just forgotten password). They say the ONLY way is to get a text - to a phone number I no longer have. No, they won't send an email for this either.

Turns out some folks monitor these posts, and come at you claiming they are "ethical hackers" who they guarantee will recover the channel - for a fee of course.

1. Has anyone ever heard of this GSDC group, or this guy on the "certificate?" I couldn't find even a website. And anyone with Photoshop can make one of these certificates in about 5 minutes.

2. So their MO is this: They want money up front to "ignite the process," and deliver nothing. Then they need more - and deliver nothing (even after guaranteeing results). And then they need more money blah blah blah - with nothing delivered.

It seems to me a real hacker could access the account with a deposit, make a change to the channel as proof. And if they don't get paid the full amount, they could just hack the site and lock it out until they got payment in full right?

So my question: Is there really such a thing as ethical hacking? And where would someone go to fine one?

THANK YOU
