Estimating the value of a domain name

Hello everyone !

I was wondering how are you estimating the value of a domain name, to buy or sell it.

Is there a way to estimate a domain's value with the exact search/month and adword CPC ? Of course I know it depends a lot on the name, but if you have any advice i'll be glad to read them !

you can get the value of your domain on "estibot" or "valuate" which is also a part of estibot. depends on what you want you domain for. If you're into domain parking then a high CPC and high global monthly searches are the best things have.

Yeah but those website aren't really accurate, let's say I have a 80k exact search and $5 CPC EMD in .net , with no website, what should i ask for ? what would you pay for ?

The best way to know the value of a domain is to look at past sales on NameBio or DNJournal and get an idea of what prices names sell for. You can have a domain that has zero exact search and $0.01 CPC and still be worth $100k because it would make a good brand. I would not use appraisal tools such as Estibot or Valuate.

I find them cheap though and I've been able to get more than they suggested I would. It's a good starting point though. If you have no potential buyers or no idea where to find potential buyers than your domain is worth $0 until you figure that out and it takes work.

I agree with what LBrown said. Someone that really wants the domain that you have is (possibly) willing to pay more regardless of what Estibot says. Although Estibot is a great place to start, I would kind of take it with a grain of salt. I would probably ask other people in the domaining community to give an appraisal, that would give you a better idea of what people are willing to pay for it.

Domain value depends on several factors including age, page rank, backlinks, dictionary word, brandable etc. Highest value would be paid by an end user.

automated appraisal tools can help, but don't base your expectations on it, best is ask an experienced domainer to get a fair assessment, like suggested above, at one of the domaining forums.

You measure with total traffic, number of unique visitors, Page Rank , SERP, organic traffic , number of backlinks, age of the domain and even some website tools to help you measure. But the best is bring your domain to bid or sell online , then you can know how it really worth . The price usually out your expectation while different people will paid base on different mindcept toward your domain.
