Hi all,

I currently have one of my social media pages listen on fameswap (a popular account marketplace) and I've set the asking price to $15,000 (I make around $5,000 a month from the account so $15k is a fair price in my opinion).

I've had quite a lot of interest for the account. One person is asking if I can use escrow.com as the escrow service instead of the escrow service offered on fameswap itself.

I would normally say no straight away to anyone trying to take the exchange away from fameswap however with the domain being "escrow.com" it seems like the website would be reputable.

I was wondering if anyone has ever used or heard of this website and if you could possibly provide an insight as to whether it's reputable.

Thanks in advance to anyone who helps!

Never used it personally but it has been around for more than a decade so it has be legal, do you research

Escrow.com seems legit to me. They've been around for a while now with very little complains from people who have used it.

escrow.com is a legit website
The fact that this is the review that shows when you search for escrow on Google is this does scare me though

I've sold tons of websites on escrow.com over the years, but I don't think they accept third-party pages hosted on third-party websites that don't belong to you.

What do you mean by third party? It’s just an account I made and grew that I’m looking to sell

Escrow.com are the most legit in the game, I’ve done high 6 figure deals through it and pretty soon it’ll be used for a 7 figure one. The buyer obviously trusts it more than the one that site uses.

Sorry I don’t quite understand what you mean by ‘the social media domain’.

For example, you can't use it to sell a Facebook/Instagram or any other social media site out there because you don't own the domain itself.

For example, you can't sell a Facebook profile on escrow.com due to you NOT OWNING the facebook.com domain.

You should probably consider an escrow on bitcointalk to any other service provider.

Or maybe, you could consider using a broker like empireflippers, feinternational or similar, but you would need to pay them a fee.

In which case I assume I would just select 'Other' as the good. It seems like escrow.com can does everything from cars to software.

I've just realized how stupid I was to be so sceptical, seems like they're integrated with ebay etc so are clearly reputable. I was out with some mates when I got the offer so could only briefly check on my phone.

My only fear now (after researching how escrow.com works) is that the buyer tells escrow.com that I haven't delivered the account or makes some form of dispute and as a result I wont have the money released to me. Or am I missing something?

Right, you could do that, but the problem is that the buyer could say he didn't receive anything on his end and get a refund.

I've seen stuff like that happen on Flippa :/

That's why I would go with empireflippers or feinternational for this. So, both ends are secure.

FEI use escrow.com to complete their deals, I’ve sold through them before. I would imagine empireflippers do too or a similar escrow company.

Correct, but an extra layer never hurts imho.

Yes and extra costs for such a small sale. I also doubt FEI would take this kind of project on, I could be wrong. Empireflippers perhaps.. again though loss of % to them when he already has a deal on the table.

Look at getting a contract drawn up you can both sign to upload to escrow, document the handover etc.. you have all the proof then, escrow won’t release the funds to you or back to the buyer until both agree the sale has been completed successfully or not.

The guy above also made a good point earlier in the thread, escrow are so legit they may not even take on this type of deal either. Escrow services that would and which I’ve used a lot are Paylax.
