    Hi Guys :)

I have this problem in my PC, I'm using WinXP SP3 -updated-.

Yesterday and suddenly, when I start IDM or open Winrar or any compressed files (rar, zip ..) Windows shows this error message:

windows cannot access the specified device, path , or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this item

If you google it, you'll find many people in many forums having this issue (may be you'll get it :D ), I tried some solutions but .. this message still appears..

I think that it's not related to any virus (I use KIS 2010), may be a security issue in the registry or in some windows configurations..

Any ideas guys, any solution? ... I don't like to format and reinstall.

As I am a COmputer and network tech by trade I would agree with this, Reinstalling the program should repair it.

Also the problem might be that winrar is installed onto a bad sector of the hard drive. I would recommend doing a surface scan of your Hard drive overnight some time(as it will take a long time to complete). Select "Run" from the start menu. Then Type in "CHKDSK /r" in the box hit enter, then Type "Y" at the prompt to do a surface scan the next time your Computer is restarted. As I said, do it over night, as it will take a long time.

Once that scan is done, run the disk defrag program.

    Hope that helps :)

    easy fix solution :
    Code:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AF78QEVS
After you download it , unzip , then look on the folder you will have a file called licentz.txt , open it , open the software running
    Code:
    RCleaner.exe
then go to Product Information ( on the left side / down option - see the register button ? :) )use the date's from the text file first time opened , go to scan&clean , figure yourself why you are here , then go to privacy eraser ... shall I tell you what you have to do here? ... go to IE BHO delete right click and delete at least the record with '' apartment '' :) i`m pretty sure you have such record here ! from BHO you can take off most of not wanted garbage's also , defrag & compact your registry it's last step which you have to do and you are save and good to run :)

nb . if have any questions ... feel free to drop a pm :) will try to answer how fast I can

    Thank you guys ..

It was my first step .. not working

    Not working too ..

I can't run Winrar, how to unzip it, and I use an registry optimizer and a registry cleaner & fixer .. but not working..

my first steps were: running a scan (antivirus+ hard drive scan)/ reinstalling the software/running a system & disk cleaner/registry cleaner/registry defragger & optimizer..

    :breakpc1: no thing working.
