I would ban the phrase "high authority sites" from the vocabulary of anyone that does SEO. In most cases, people who use phrases "high authority sites" are just trying to do SEO. What you built are nice foundation links, now you can start using things that actually have power to rank you. PBNs and guest posts.

The misconception about authority sites: The trashcans behind the Four Seasons in New York (the page your link is on) aren't the Gotham Suite (mainpage). The authority of a domain won't help you if your link is buried 51 clicks from the mainpage or worse, on a orphan page not reachable via the navigation at all.
