Epic new facebook update

Google it up. Some people posted the new changes. It eliminates a landing page. Just from the rollout your Info or Wall is permanently your landing page. No more FBML.

This change can be bypassed - I ran into this problem with FB's community pages - Communnity pages have had forced users to the 'wall' for months...

When creating your ads, simply copy and paste your FBML html as if it were an outside website. It takes much longer for the ad to get approved, but it will go live...Definately not AS effective...but hell, its better than nothing!

lol see what the peoples have to say

When they disable default tabs in the fanpage it will be simple to get people to the tab.

1) Disable users posting on the wall, default view to posts from wall.
2) Post a link on the wall to the FBML tab
3) Edit description, title etc to something like "Click here to begin"

The only problem then is, people posting shitty comments in response to the message, thats where a bot would be needed, stays logged intot the fanpage accounts (keeps the cookie so it doesnt keep logging in and trigger an error), and every 1-2 minutes delete any comments.

they should have an option for comments anyway, stop user comments, suprised they havnt implemented it to be truthful as it stops comment spam, although i know it stops the community aspect

Isn't FB supposed to be transitioning from FBML to iFrames for apps? Maybe that's what they're "trying" to to test out now.

Code:

Who knows what FB is up to these days. It's ALWAYS a surprise. They never give a "heads up" before they screw your pages up.

oh yeah it deffo speeds it up, was actualy quite good when i was using it when they did the minor update, however alot of noob computer users will be miffed if they dont warn them what to do

i just wish facebook would die already .. common googleme!

I havent got the updates yet. Curiously waiting to get the updates and plan the game to screw it :D

I read that fb was going to change the fan pgs at the end of the year a month or so back.

i heard that they were doing away with the fbml pages and that they were all going to be iframes after the first of the year.

Maybe they are testing this or it's the first step for the new change.

has anyone tried to set up a new fbml page since the change yesterday?

I also heard than any fan pgs that are currently using fbml would still be able to do so (grandfathered in) but any future pages would need to use iframes as the fbml code will be disabled.

Anyone else heard anything like this?

Very interested to see how this all shakes out.

cbeach, ive heard it yes, i dont think their cutting off fbml right away, they are gradually fading it out with less and less support and less tags etc

they change so much seems like it will more and more hard to make money with fb..... i will wait for things to get back to normal and then see what needs to be done

Everyone says that when there's changes ahead and you know what? People still do it. Although, these aren't "changes" as much as game stopping changes. So it'll be tougher now.

I don't see any changes to the fan pages. Today I created a new page for a business & added FBML.

fbml is so 3/3/10

i welcome this new change..fbml has always been cumbersome and awkward.
