So of all the emails I could have downloaded, and there were literally petabytes of data, I chose "Enron" for it's manageable size, and my awareness of it's history.
On my HD now. I perused them immediately after download, and they've been sitting inert ever since.
Recently, my computer was acting buggy, so out of caution I ran an online scan from Eset, and it flagged about 6 of the compressed Enron emails. 2 or 3 had "joke" malware, but the other 2 or 3 were not marked "joke", which I interpreted as SERIOUS.
The malware description from ESET says that they are trojans looking for BitCoin, possibly to download and steal, which tells me that Enron executives were at least targeted for having BitCoin, as I doubt it was a random accident. What I haven't done yet is (mentally) overlaid the history of Enron with the history of BitCoin, in order to see where in Enron's history arc, and BitCoin's origins and it's history arc, overlap, intersect, etc...
I'm "sorta/kinda" interested in this, but would rather get spoon-fed some details before proceeding further. Maybe it's a nothing-burger and ancient and irrelevant history, or MAYBE it's interesting that a corporation that was massively fraudulent was also dabbling in BitCoin, a detail I do not remember from when it was happening.
Is anyone else interested, and does anyone else know anything?
