Are people still using engagement groups in 2026 or are they tracked and penalized with AI behaviour detection these days? I imagine a private influencer network should work the same way in social media as PBNs do for SEO especially when the network is completely niche audience targeted

nobody uses them anymore, ai catches that fake engagement instantly

What if it was handled like an influencer campaign and instead of engaging with an instagram post they all just posted content advertising the same thing? I don't think that would be tracked since it would be hard to differentiate compared to real influencer campaigns

private networks can open doors but the authentic engagement keeps them open .

still work but way riskier now, ai behavior detection catches the everyone likes within 2 mins pattern easy

They're way harder to be used since AI can pick them up very quickly and ban all the associated accounts.

Small niche groups can still help naturally, but coordinated engagement just to game the algorithm is easier for platforms to detect now.

People still use them, but I wouldn't depend on them. If it's always the same people liking and commenting on every post, it can look suspicious. A small group in the same niche is fine, just keep it natural and don't force it.

In my opinion, very few people use this feature nowadays because it's easy to detect.

They still exist and I wouldnt trust them blindly. In case the same people like and comment on all your posts then things may become suspicious. It is fine to have a few people in the same niche but just ensure that you dont force it onto each post.

Pods still work but detection is sharper now, since platforms track engagement patterns, not just volume. Niche targeting helps you blend in, but getting caught taints your whole account's trust, riskier than a PBN.

idk if i would compare it to a pbn exactly but the footprint issue is real. if you have multiple accounts posting the same creative or pointing to the same domain at the same time, the algo flags that fast. you gotta spin the images and space out the timing. it can work but the setup is a massive headache compared to just running standard ads. still doable if you have the patience to mask the footprint though.

Yes people are, however its important to note that the type of engagement group's people are using is what is important. For example, if your niche is about beauty, then it wouldnt make sense to join a group that is about golfing. You will get a whole different audience. That being said, join engagement groups that are related to your niche.
