Engagement From automated accounts???

I have a lot of Instagram accounts that i control with mass planner and i get my content from scraping other accounts, pinterest boards, tumblr and rarely google. some of my accounts have 2K+ followers and some are brand new. no matter what I do I am unable to get engagement from the followers. I am gaining around 75K followers per month across all my accounts but very few likes and almost 0 comments.

My goal is to eventually use these accounts to promote my product but I do not know if it will work or if continuing with this project is worth it if I am not gaining engaged users to follow my accounts. My logic is if the accounts are not getting likes or comments then they certainly are not going to get people to click a link and purchase a product.

What methods do you use to increase engagement?

Is it a quality of content problem?

If you are controlling a large number of accounts do you get engagement or is it common to get no engagement?

Am i wrong to assume that if I have no engagement that I will not be able to use the power of these followers to promote my brand

any other suggestions?

I am using the follow and unfollow method and testing different hashtags to increase engagement.

After spending days agonising about engagement, reading BHW posts of people saying <10% is a dogshit account, looking at dozens of large Instagram pages, here's my conclusion: anything above 3% is an anomaly and unachievable for 99% of accounts.

If you're getting at least 1% engagement, don't worry about it and move on.

You are saying that 1% engagement is good, correct? move on as in keep moving forward with the project?

On most accounts im getting around 2% engagement from likes and usually no comments.

your 3% is reassuring though. can you think of anything that has helped you boost engagement?

Snook55, what are your following settings? This could be the reason you're accounts are following "shitty" accounts that don't have involvement with your accounts.
You've now found that having followers, for the sake of followers, is not always good for what you want to do.

I average anywhere from 1.5% to 2.5%. Basically, I remind followers at every turn to turn on Post Notifications and I cross-promote the hell out of my accounts.

I have it in my bio, captions and Thank You DMs to turn on Post Notifications. By the way, the Thank You DMs also say to "follow my good friend @[mymainaccountwhichIdon'tbot]"

Each caption shouts out my other accounts. So, if someone likes an image, there's a chance they can go to my other accounts and do the same there.

I'm split-testing upload times to see when people are online.

I set each account to like 2 images from my other accounts once every hour, so that that activity can hopefully pop up in the Following feeds of my followers and they might check out what my accounts liked and do the same.

I have a 2.6k account grown totally organically for almost 2 months, with 4% of engagement (around 100 likes per pic) and like ~10 comments per post (video, in my case)

The best way to get engagement is to involve your followers in your account, make them feel like they really mean something for you, right now I'm having a mini contest, the three followers who likes and comments the most videos will get a shoutout, this way, new followers will want to win and will spam you with likes and hopefully comments

As I said, make them feel special, reply to people who comment and check out their feed and give them a mini-spam, make votations for a pic you will upload next, this way you can involve more your followers into your account

For example, I my acc is about music features, and I get the most engagement when I ask what singer they wish to watch, and then the most replied enter in a votation, in another post, -- VS --, and then I featured the whole week that singer, that was the week when I got the most likes in my account...

Hopefully you'll get more engagement eventually and that my tips helped you

I too am seeing this a lot, but I guess with 5k-10k followers, it becomes fairly easy to get around 5-8% engagement. What do you think?

By my observation, people with 3% and above tend to:

1. Do it manually.
2. Lucked into a great niche and community.
3. Have misleading numbers because of the ability to hit the Explore page.
4. Be really, really, really old accounts with Original Content.

Since you can suck at it doing it manually more than you'd succeed and the other 3 are "either you have it or you don't" scenarios, I honestly don't care as long as I'm floating above 1.00%.
