If money was not an issue in terms of investing in your online business.
What would you do?
How long do you think it would take you to make 5 figures, if you had all the initial capital you needed?
I was just sitting in front of my computer and caught myself drifting off into this thought. Maybe a stupid question. Just wondering.

come on. it's hypothetical.
ok, not endless. Let's say you had a million $, of which you could use for your online venture.

actually it is a tough question. I know that a million dollars is a lot of money, but think about it. You have a million, that is all the money you have. In my opinion a million dollars is definitely not enough money to say that's it, I have enough to do whatever I want. you have to double it at least to reach a certain level of endless, or almost endless, financial comfort.

A million is plenty to live off on if you know where to look for great rates and invest it wisely.

For example, one place I put some money into is Pr0sper*com, which is a peer to peer lending company that lets everyday people like you and me make loans to other folks, at decent rates. My average rate of return there is easily 15%, and if you screen the borrowers really well you'll minimize the chance of default.

But if I were to do an online venture with that kind of money, I'd buy and flip websites. I have enough programming knowledge to optimize a website for keywords and I'd do A/B testing to maximize conversions (be they clicks or purchases). However, I don't have the patience to do marketing, so getting a pre-existing site with traffic is what I'd love to do.

I'd offer cash up for some software that has floated around here and is no longer available as well as buying a few other scripts that look like time savers. I'd take some money and spend a bit for outsourcing some of the things that I do manually now (writing articles, building links, etc) and free up some time.

I bet it would still take me forever to make 5 figures (xx,xxx), but it would be faster than if I started from scratch.

Not to be rude, I apologize in advance if I am, but this is small scale thinking.
You wouldn't be spending more than a few thousand clams this way.
I'm talking about more large scale thinking.

I don't think it's rude at all. It would just be starting small. Until I have proof that something will work for me, I don't want to scale it too much. The thing is, that the outsourced stuff I mentioned would save lots of time so I could try some other things. Even if it's just market research so I have more sites to hire outsourcers for. And, IMHO it's still a better answer than "start an online startup". It just not fleshed out enough to be big.

I could pour some money into learning arbitrage for example which is very profitable for some people. Unfortunately for me, I know nothing about it so I would need cash to throw at it until I learned the ropes.

you can get a fair amount of money just from interest generated by that million dollars

Lol you don't need anything close to a million to make 5 figs online each month you can start from nothing...:D

if money wasnt an issue, then id buy stock and move to the caymen islands

If money was not an issue? Well I would be making however much I needed to be making within a week or two....

I'll be doing an online startup in asia.. but if it's a purely investment and roi type of business. I'll look for an existing business i'm passionate about and believe has some potential that has good revenue (most probably online) and plunk some good money into it and time.

Another thing is to complete my online team in manila... A really solid group.

I'd hire an army of outsourced workers and have them do all my work for me

OK if money wasn't an issue and I had endless funds, I wouldn't be worried about trying to make money online. :D

Seriously though, if it were me, I would use my investment capital to hire programmers to code me an arsenal of bad-ass scripts.

I would hire 5 blackhaters, put them on the next plane to Croatia, give them 10 really good programmers to work with and give them a opportunity to putt all there ideas to reality. I'm always thinking what power could it be if you putt a group of blackhatters on one place. I don't mean forum like this, real place where they can talk in person. Say any idea. Even if its a stupid one. Someone says an idea, so a other person adds something new to the idea, some one adds another thing... in the end its g2b a real good idea...
