End of Google Finally!!!

Come on guys!!! You IM'ers make your living figuring out new ways to game search engines, companies with billion dollar budgets, this is a donation driven browser extension.

It's been around for years and several sites (especially video streaming sites) already have things in place to detect it.

It shouldn't be too hard to implement something.

1 - get a few (2-3) links blacklisted by AdBlock. Linking to small transparent images or something.
2 - place the links on your page
3 - when someone accesses your page check if they load the links you had blacklisted. If only one link didn't load it could be problem with host, but if all of them failed you can be fairly sure they have some sort of blocking software running and you can proceed from there.

it's not rocket science

You could follow what Domo laid out or go with some of the pre-coded stuff you can find on google

"...share this campaign with everyone you know..." - Charles Cary

I'm on my way to send an email to everyone in my address book. Everyone should use this! I really can't believe WHY anyone haven't think about this a long time ago.
Just wow!

Ok, stop BS. I've waisted too many minutes in this thread. Few of the guys said smart thing, like that ass-kicking white member. Others want to be in some other business, but they are still not aware of it, because they don't have a clue about proper marketing, as I can see.

Quote of the day:
"I'm the only house in the street with "Please post junk mail" on my door."

Now, close this thread and get back to business.

Actually, it's the other way around.
Google contextual ads are shown by default for adblock users ( official statement is that they are non-intrusive. rumors are that some serious cash changed owners under table) - you need to tick additional option in settings to hide them as well.

The moment I played the video, I felt like punching the guy in the face...

I wanted to take a ball peen hammer and use the round side to knock out that 1st guy's teeth, one at a time. Agree with a previous poster, WAY too much smiling. Too many teeth, not enough ball peen hammer action.

Google will come up with a new method of bypassing this for sure......

You are absolutely correct.. What you said couldn't have been dictated any better. I rely on Adsense and other forms of advertisements to pay for my hosting and domains. It is great for people to want to better the internet and yes, sometimes web pages get too cluttered with ads. Mainly people set up websites and offer a product to generate additional income to pay for everyday expenses.

Pretty sure Adblock is shady, I went back to their vid on YouTube and saw that now they've disabled both comments and LIKES after they started losing the battle against dislikers. Michael, while cooked up on narcotics, must get intensely paranoid about negative press online.

I believe that if AdBlock starts to block Google's ads they'll misteriously close for no reason... If you check the money that Google makes from their ads you'll see that this is more serious than a simple bother.

Google will probably find a way or loophole to advertise in other ways that would be really hard to block. I am sure this wouldn't end anything at all.

Even if Adblock took ads out of the picture (it won't) people would start to make payed membership sites or pay to read sites.

Adblock is probably the best thing that happened to web surfers and the worst thing that happened to advertisers and publishers.
I personally have a love hate relationship with adblock as I am on both ends.

I feel the exact same way. Use it and love it. Ctr prob lower because of it :)

I think adblockers have already had a notable impact on things, but it will never kill it off completely. We may just have to modify the way we promote ads, or host the image files on our own servers, etc.

"Adblock is probably the best thing that happened to web surfers and the worst thing that happened to advertisers and publishers."

For me Adblock is the best thing that ever happened to the web, period. This toughens the competition among last-minute networks and hand-me-down losers turned "imers". There will ALWAYS be a way to go past adblock and siblings, like there's ways to track users without cookies and the list could go on and on.

Personally speaking I dig having a chance to browse a cleaner web and having less competition by being ahead of the curve. Frankly, I could care less if it affects Joe Shmuck ;)

I don't mind this screwing over advertisers - I don't really like the ads and am tired of seeing them. Instead I will make money using guerilla tactics that people crave. Not interrupt their day to show them what I want them to see, it's more like propaganda than advertising....

I bet those 3 out of 10 users do not know the content they are viewing is provided due to those ads.
