End of Google Finally!!!

I just don't know why people get excited over this and it seems they are happy about AdBlocker. Seriously, I want to see ads sometimes since sometimes they actually have what I want. It would be bad for both publishers and advertisers. Publishers would make much less money with some other programs (I got banned from AdSense and I feel the difference, so I know what it's like) and advertisers wouldn't have too much space to put their ads on.

It's sad for me to actually see something like this, and even more sad to see people supporting it, especially some peolpe on here.

Bing/Yahoo should offer to buy Adblock so they could block Google's ads :heh:

I am in the web business for about 12 years and i've never used AdBlock or something similar. And i think i never will.
Some people just want to see interesting offers.
I dont like that google is storing informations about what i do in the internet, but on the other hand i like to see ads of thinks that are interesting for me.

AdBlock is here many years too.
So nothing will change, like it did not.

And most of all, most people are so computer-dumb, that they are happy to know how to click on a browser icon.

The real owner of Adblock Plus is the same guy, who has made SEDO (a couple hundred of millions € made)

They make lot's of money with their whitelist aswell, there was a in-depth investigation in Germany a few weeks ago. They even get 30% of all the revenues (excluding AdSense, but that deal was I guess pretty good aswell for them).

Webmasters have a dillema here, most just have to agree to share 30%, even if tomorrow they would it make 50%.

In Germany, already 14% of the internet users are using it. The real number should be even bigger up to 25%

P.S. Same with Ghostery, don't install that shit - they sell all their data!!

I've been using ad blockers for 1+ years. It changes the whole internet experience (in a good way). Everyone should use it ... faster loading, no pop-ups, no pop-unders no nothing. Cool :)

Not a big deal, if it ever becomes a big enough problem systems will be created that will only serve the content after it verifies the ads have been displayed or served.

The moment I played the video, I felt like punching the guy in the face...

Adblock can't deal with Iframes and it can't deal with a host of other shit. Going to take a lot more than some douchebag going on about an ad free internet to stop my hustle.

Well i even read somewhere adblock was launched for android users as well but since its managed by google it has added some expections since google main source of earning is through advertising

this is really dangerous , I don't think they know what they do .
we can fight them :

Back in the days before I was involved in IM I used an old school ad blocker. Can't recall the bloody name of it now but it's no longer around.

When I got into IM I stopped using ad blockers since it felt a tad hypocritical. And as others pointed out, it's also good to see what other IMers are up to.

I would consider using an ad blocker for one purpose and that is to stop those goddamn video ads that start automatically when you hit the site and most of the time I've got my speakers turned up! I know about and use "NoScript" but sometimes I need to pop into another browser to visit a site that I consider safe and not have to deal with unblocking stuff with NoScript.

Those auto-play video ads are the ones that make me want to punch someone in the face through the internet!

leeching freeloaders!
Do they not realise many sites are only maintained by the revenue they get from adds?
I bet they take there homemade popcorn to the movies as well.
The number of U.S. digital shoppers is expected to grow from 137 million in 2010 to 175 million in 2016, according to eMarketer estimates. Are they going to leave the internet? No they are going to disable adblocker.
It'll be like going to the mall and all the shops have their windows boarded up.

Freeloading on the fat of society is the American dream mate; One that most of our members are focused on skimming off a small chunk of!

Absolutely stupid fucking idea. I doubt hey will succeed (hope not) but even if they did they will just create a space for another form of advertising. Or someone gets really pissed and sets their servers on fire. Ads are simply necessary to make money to keep the sites running. It's like shooting a drug dealer in the head - it won't stop the drugs, another one raises to take the vacant place. Same with the ads. Fuck you adblock.

If every one start using adblock, the ads will come inside the content, so we would never have any real information out there, every thing will become into bullshit marketing to sell products to visitors

Come on guys!!! You IM'ers make your living figuring out new ways to game search engines, companies with billion dollar budgets, this is a donation driven browser extension.

It's been around for years and several sites (especially video streaming sites) already have things in place to detect it.

It shouldn't be too hard to implement something.

1 - get a few (2-3) links blacklisted by AdBlock. Linking to small transparent images or something.
2 - place the links on your page
3 - when someone accesses your page check if they load the links you had blacklisted. If only one link didn't load it could be problem with host, but if all of them failed you can be fairly sure they have some sort of blocking software running and you can proceed from there.

it's not rocket science
