End of Google Finally!!!

I love Adblock, I get to skip all the YouTube 5 second ads automatically. It is so great.

That guy in the video at the end was higher than a kite

and some time whole 30 seconds; no skip

Or even better. Blocks the AdBlocker user from viewing your content/website until they disable AdBlocker :D

Kicking and screaming mate.
Just a quick thought though it wouldn't be too hard to create a plugin that detects the adblocker user agent
and displays alternative content.

I wonder why Google doesn't just buy these guys out.

Because Google already paid Adblock to disable blocking Google's products by default. Anyway, Google does not want to appear more evil than they already do. Google's prophet, Matt Cutts, has quite a following and they do not want to risk losing the mind control that they have over these people.

There always people find a trick for everything, so you don't have to be so worried about the add blocker.

I'm a little confused, so sorry if this sounds stupid lol. But if Adblock wants everyone to install there plugin, wont that leave only Google ads on websites for everyone? Making it technically not the end of Google but actually making them more profitable? :/

Well for me all ads are blocke including google ads!

I love adblocks and the best thing is I don't get to see blackhatworld's ads where all the SEO guru claim that they'll rank 1st on GOOGLE. Adblock saved newbies, period!

let's make the web a better place by removing the source of income for the people taking their time to make the web what it is. brilliant plan.

i wonder if they pulled this off if it would actually help spam, since everyone would think they blocked all ads/spam and maybe would trust links their friends posts even more than now.

meh. id still like to hear their ideas on how they expect websites with real traffic to stay afloat if their little plan works. anyone even know what another viable option would be besides asking for donations or text ads inside content (more annoying than banners IMO)

Google's ads were blocked by default. Once Google ponied up the money and paid Adblock, blocking Google ads had to be manually set by each user. Not a big deal for most of us here, but a lot of the less technically inclined won't take the time to block Google. So yes, in a way this move by Google will make them more money then they otherwise would have. When you are a monopoly, in complete control of many industries, you have the funds to do these sort of things. But it also can be looked at as a strongarm tactic from Adblock.

Adblock is nice, but i mainly use it for blocking pop ups. if the ads dont bother me surfing then i have no reason to disable it.

Viewing ads could be nice, you know what other companies are promoting, bring you good ideas for your business.

If Adblock can be coded to have the function of only blocking annoying ads, how great is it ehh? ;)

Peter

Actually if you get in contact with adblock they'll whitelist you're ads. There're a few things though like the ad can't have noise (main reason why I use it) or be right in the middle of content.

I don't know what your line of business is but mine is IM so I want to see all the the ads, I want to know what's working
for the competition.
I'm the only house in the street with "Please post junk mail" on my door.

It's really just brilliant marketing. They get free advertisement, and they'll make a ton if money from their "free" software. You'd be surprised how much those donation wares make. The creator is going to retire extremely wealthy because of this.

they are raising only $25k, how much exposure are they expecting to get with that little amount ?? they can easily burn it in less than a week

That guy at the end smoked a hog leg of a "J" and chased it with about six 5 gallon drum gravity bong hits.

Holy socks, I think I just lost some IQ points from watching that video. I think they're struggling to make the connection between advertising and there actually being a YouTube to visit and enjoy for free.
