A lot of people comment that EMDs do not work.

Granted they no longer possibly have the weight they used to do, but maybe they are coming back into fashion again?

Consider if you are searching for a search term, will google give you more weight now based on the search intent?

So if you search on Google; how does homeopathy work

Volume: 1,600/mo | CPC: $2.39 | Competition: 0.02

So maybe the awesome content on this site, contributes to ranking?

There's an EMD in the top 10 which has forty words of content.

We found 40 words on http://www.howdoeshomeopathywork.com/

My friend Kyle Roof has shown numerous times you can rank with crappy content that makes no sense at all ( he's proved this with ipsum Loren )

The domain is 10 years old, so that surely must be a factor?

The backlink profile is interesting;

But on the page are 2 links ( http://www.1023.org.uk/ and http://www.merseysideskeptics.org.uk/ )

So can you still get on page 1 of Google with an EMD? YES

Can you do so with almost no content? YES

This is just a thread making observations, please don't rush out and start bulk buying EMDs.

Enjoy your weekend!

I've been using EMD for local projects in the last 6 months. They rank so easy on SERP for local projects.

Look for areas/cities with <50k population.
Buy EMD(omain).
Write homepage content.
Build 5 more internal pages for deep linking.
Get a GMB for the listing (Optional).
Build citations.

Wait for 1 month or less.

Impressive observation supporting previous claims, do you think a newly registered EMD can have such effect?

Can confirm works on local niches specially low to medium competion.

If you just target non-english audience- almost all the "old" strategies works perfectly. Google aint that perfect.
I think you're right about this, a friend from one of the very small countries in Europe once told me he builds a kind of PBN using EMDs and ccTLD, all of these will link back to his money site and power it as a regular PBN would do. He does this for his projects that targeted at this country(non-English)

Strange but it works for him

Yes, it works in non-English websites. I had a website with EMD and it manages to give me a few leads per month.

Interesting read. I guess it's time again to buy some emds.

If my niche is small and it doesn't make sense to build a brand I'll always take an EMD if it's available, why not :D

It even ranks higher than
healthline.com
betterhealth.vic.gov.au

Do they use exact anchor text or generic?

I've done all of this but in a city of 5 million. Keyword difficulty is 20 according to KW Finder and the site still doesn't rank after 5 months with 15 pages of content and directory/citation links. :(

I have ranked EMD for few keywords with Amazon Affiliates. The interesting part is it has almost no links and its out ranked chewy and many other high authority pet related sites for low competition keywords and its still has the #1 position.
When I tried to sell my site many people refused to buy it coz its EMD, IMers still have negative thinking about EMD but its really work in long term.
