Emd vs just targeting a low comp keyword?

Hi all, i have managed to find an EMD with over 6 million global searches per month and it is very low competition. It is related to my niche, so if you were me would you buy the EMD and build a website then redirect it to my main site or just do some on site seo and target the keywords?

How did you check competition?
If its really a good keyword, buy the emd.
