EMD that over 3 words looks like a spam site, provided that it is short and simple. Go for PMD for better results and conversions (one or two word keyword + something like expert, house, hub, factory etc.)
EMD can outrank Authority site of course, your site need to have high quality content and backlinks, depends on the competition in your niche.

seo has so many factor for calculation. you cannot judge the ranking by the authority or KOD itself. The contain on the site affect more than that factor, example: your authority domain might be rank well more than the EMD domain, but on the particular keyword, only the most relevant content will rank higher, one of the comparison factor by the bounce rate and average time on site.

You mean it is worth trying ?? Bounce Rate can be fixed by some YouTube videos, good content. What will be missing is on&off page SEO.

yes, i think both is worth of trying. if i were you, i prefer using the "related" aged authority domain rather than using brand new EMD. example: if you run on niche health, you search for aged or expired domain that have related on the niche you will run, at least the backlink profile of this aged domain should be relevant, health backlink for health niche.
its hard to find, worth to try, result is awesome
