EMD Update - big question is...

Everyone is talking about the drop to the emd sites but my question is:

CAN YOU COME BACK FROM THE DEAD? if you fix your back-linking (anchor test) and on site seo will your site come back or is it dead forever?

Should I work on the websites that got hit or start with new websites?

What would be faster?

EMD is not a penalty but rather the SEO value of EMD has been devalued.Just do what you were doing and you would be backup.
 
I am a victim of the EMD update too since my site was ranking #3 to #5 for two combination of keywords (two pairs of words)
and now since the end of Sept 2012 is gone to #47 and #58 !
In addition for one pair is not even the root of the domain but a random page inside the domain!

Any ideas?/ Can i get back?

The domain is 6 months old and got on the top 10 ranking 2 months ago and for 2 months straight.

I disagree.

I am not a fan of dumping domains because of an update and/or penalty. If you can't identify the issue, it will just happen again with your new domain. You have to identify the problem and fix it, plain and simple.
 
in my case i have a .co which is buykeyworduk.co it was ranking well for buy keyword, buy keyword uk and keyword uk since the emd update it now only ranks for buy keyword uk, so it looks to me that they may have devalued keywords in domains rather than emds specifically. ( my links are spread approx equally between the 3 anchors )

Regurgitation at its finest! Tell that to my sites that were not EMD that got hit by the EMD update and are now not ranking in top 1,000. Yeah your right tho. They devalued my domains to rank #5,433 in the serps.

I didn't say he should start over doing the same damn thing all over again. What I meant was it's faster to start over than to fix problems you may have accrued over a long time. But yeah, I should've been more specific. I don't disagree with you. ;)

You weren't hit by the EMD update. There were two other updates very close to it. Specifically a Panda update right around the same time.
 
I've got a few EMDs that weren't affected at all that are still in the top 3 spots. I also did hardly any linkbuilding for them, like literally a tweet, facebook page, and tumblr blog link. What kind of SEO did you guys do who are seeing drops?
 
Same here pretty much all EMD sites that i did zero backlinking too stayed put all others with linking bombed, but that maybe be down to panda/ penguin updates rather the the EMD update. Ive restarted the bombed sites on branded domains since that update and they are performing extremely well, possibly try a 301 redirect if you believe its a EMD devalue to a new site if its a penguin / panda penalty then just carry on building quality content and links
 
Another idea to try might be (where possible) to double up keywords on a non-EMD domain. Find two strong related kws ('magic rare widgets' and 'smoke your wadget,' whatever) and combine them in one domain ('smoke your wadget with magic rare widgets') and build the site based on both as a kind of 'dual core' keyword engine. In exchange for drifting from a dependency on EMDs, you gain more targeted traffic from ranking two kws simultaneously, pushing both jointly in the domain, titles, and article text.
 
Two sides of the fence here. Some say, continue with your site. Some say start a new one.

Here's an idea. Do both. Hard to argue against the kitchen sink approach.

Although knowing Google there'll be a Kitchen Update soon enough.
 
Its probably quicker to just start new sites than to try to come back and waste your time!

When you blast rocks with explosives, what happens if you halve the amount of dynamite used? The holes get smaller. Meaning, halving the dynamite for SEO could mean the difference between #5 and #13. The first one will make money, the second one will hardly get a hit.

So focus your resources on what can blast the biggest hole.
 
OK, i made both i make same god back links on the sandblasted and i start a new one, But is very hard to know where is the mistake, my first site pass all the Panda until now! And it have 1 year old.
 
Not necesary to start new site, just only use:

anchor text diversity (Previous google updates)
backlink diversity (Previous google updates)

and the most important for this update: reduce keyword density from EMD on site to less than 1.5%. This should fix it.

I had a site drop from 1st page to page 12 in G during the emd hit. A few edu links later and I am back on the middle of page 2.

I think you can enrich content and then target more keyword. Change website's layout to give a authority sites look.
