I am very confused lately as far as the relationship between EMDs and the newest search algorithms. Over the last several months I see and hear tons of conversations about how G shot down the benefits people were getting from EMDS, yet I constantly see EMDs at the top of searches. So I bought a country-specific version of a fairly high competition keyword to test it out and before I could even finish the basic structure of the site I was ranking #3 for that keyword. Brand new domain so there was no age, PR or anything like that to help me. So are EMDs still powerful or did I just manage to achieve the odd exception to the rule?

They are still powerful if you actually know how to build a decent SEO friendly site and optimize it. That plus quality optimized content and they rank fine. The problem is NOT EMD's the problem is all these clowns thinking they know SEO when in reality they have ranked nothing. Had a guy submit a resume, he stated he is an SEO expert. I asked him how many sites he has ranked and he said two, I said okay that is not very many, which kwds, of course he replied with 5 word phrases, these types of people are the ones you see complaining about their sites not ranking.

Emds still work. I have an emd with about 7 paragraphs and it ranks #1 for its keyword. About 800 searches a month and no backlins

I am finding them more powerful than before,it could be because they will be relevant to search queries which makes sense, you won't be using an emd to target a different niche.

    emd's never lost their power
its fairly easier to rank emd (if you know what you are doing) as compared to any other domain
