Is EMD working now? I left internet marketing since all of my 5 domains lost their ranking and it happened after penguine update which targeted EMDs. Is it working now? If not, how to rank well easily for a lowest competitive keyword?

I think it is working, most of my domains are exact keyword match and some of them are still ranking on first page. I am keeping those sites updated with fresh and regular backlinks from social media and high pr sites.
 
I have several emd's and i constantly add quality content and backlinks and they are doing very well.

It will still work as long as you build high quality backlinks and the content offered in the site is informative is of high quality. Don't be discouraged by the EMD updates. Some sites got slapped just because they are EMD? I don't think so. It must have something to do with their backlinks and other factors such as content and the like.
 
Yes, they are actually. Since it all depends on the quality and the content of the website, the update targeted only those EMDs which were of poor quality and had duplicate or spun content.

A lot of sites were ranking on the EMD bonus alone. You can still rank that way for low volume, very low competition keywords. For most keywords the EMD bonus alone won't get you anywhere anymore. You need backlinks.
 
Google can never penalize EMDs. Imagine that happening and all good sites will go down. So they work, but only quality sites, just like with any other domain.
 
i have different opinion from other comments , non EMD=EMD now the same value , if you see EMDs sites ranked not
because it's EMD but for good off page seo done ....
 
The main value of a niche keyword is to rank based on its micro status and low SEO competition---an EMD is gravy. If you build a site with such kws (not just one, but 6 or more) and use one as an EMD, it shouldn't affect its ability to stay highly ranked, because it doesn't depend on the domain alone.
 
I am personally seeing it lot easier to rank EMD sites these days specially after the EMD update.
 
Without a doubt. EMD's are 10 times easier to optimize. Quality content and you need less bl's. My emd's rank much much easier.
 
Its still working. I had a site like 5 months a go, added some quality content and did some SEO. Site wasn't ranking so thought I'd drop it. But recently noticed it has consistently been ranking for >5 keywords in top 10 google search for about 8k local searches. Good add some more content and backlinks and see what happens.
 
Long story short: Don't make an EMD if you're fighting for a competitive KW.
 
It does work, it's more important what you do with them then EMDs itself
 
EMD still works however quality content and good diversified backlinks will rank them well in Google.
EMD website just made for Adsense in mind wont work anymore. Google is very intelligent than we think.
