After the lastet G update EMD still safe? Just want to try some CB products.what do you think?

I get quicker ranking and a higher ctr from non-EMDs, because google prefers brands and it looks more authoritative to people. Instead of an EMD, try a brand-style name with just one of your keywords.

Example:

Your keyword is "cheap electric toothbrush"
Your url can be "toothbrushking.com"

These domains tend to hold their value over time, too, so you have an asset rather than a throwaway campaign piece.

After the updates, ofcourse few EMD's are getting affected doesn't mean all EMD is not working. It is up to your backlink profile that will decide the ranking. You can choose some aged EMD domain and use those to rank.

EMD is still working like a charm for me, dont know about anyone else i have 3-4 EMD domains that i ranked 1st position for 4 months now and are still holding there..

I want to know this as well. Anyone managed to rank an average comp keyword with emd within past few months?

EMD is much much better .....Dont believe the shit which says it has lost its charm. It works like charm like it used to!

I don't think they are "not safe" it's just they don't have the same bonus they used to for rankings

I've ranked an EMD with a low comp keyword within 10 days, and its stayed there for 3 weeks so far.

But, I personally think, related aged domain is better.

After the update, EDM and Non-EDM works alike, basically that's what it just mean.

No one is given upper hand or priority, it boils down to your expertise and SEO experience.

If i would advice, choose a befitting name for your site.

Yeah I made a nice tier 1, with good quality web 2's, and some nice social signals, all manual, then bulked loads of web 2's to all those links. SB + NHSEO + GSA -ed all the links. Very simple, probably overkill on such an easy keyword.

How many blogs did you set up?
How many articles on each web 2.0?
Where did you get the content for tier 1?

EMD variations are working fine for me using (aEMD) and (topEMD) have been ranking #1 for a website script since April.

Modified above example:


Your keyword is "electric toothbrush"
Your url can be "aelectrictoothbrush"
Your url can be "topelectrictoothbrush"

Dislike having more than 24 characters in my domain though.

Yep EMD websites work still very good. All those people who say EMD don't work/deindex/worser rankings is because in 9/10 cases they have a bad anchortext (backlink) profile.

I guess it depends. I had a mid local search volume EMD for a "town" restaurant directory which was ranked in the top 1-5 for the last 3+ years with little to no SEO. I had decent traffic and 4 restaurants paying me $30 monthly for "featured" positions which linked to their sites and a few bucks from CPA ads. After the last update, it virtually disappeared, dropping below 30. I didn't change anything and we didn't get slapped. Now I have to put some SEO toward it or I will surely lose the tenants.
