Hello guys.
I have new idea. I want to start some case study, here's the idea:
I will buy 4 domains: emd,not emd,emd with hypens and emd with e at start so for example for london hotels it will be:
londonhotels.com
placetosleep.com
london-hotels.com
elondonhotels.com
I will use same strategy for every of them and we will see how much does emd power give and if it apply to hypens or e at start.
Is that good idea?
thanks

this may not work, as the content has to be different on each site, but if its relatively similar on word count and london hotels being the main keyword, i can predict that EMD being in front EMD with e being second and that going behind to third, EMD with dash third than going to second (as i believe they take longer to notice), and non EMD always behind

Thats very interesting. WOuld love to see a case study on .info domain as well.

I honestly dont think that there is LOT of power in emd.

Anyways, we will see.

I suppose the result but i will follow your little test.

it's a good idea but the results would be more meaningful if you tried it with several more terms. maybe 10 different keyword phrases x 4 variations each. Then compare the results for all of them. My guess is that one or two (at least) will skew in a different direction than the rest. If you only test one phrase and that happens to be the outlier, it's going to point you in the wrong direction.

Sounds like a really cool idea, but yea, I'd also add an info domain and an old domain (+5 years) that can be bought for basically nothing on godaddy.

Sounds like a cool idea, and yeah try it with a .info or .biz domain and see how it goes.

Good idea, will add .info domain too.
Thanks and looking for more advices guys!
For sure every site will have unique content!

And an old domain ;-)

And then you should go and get 300-500 social bookmarks for each of them afterwards.

Any ideas where to get an old domain?

Godaddy is best place to get Aged domain..Btw the idea is really awesome I would love to hear more about it...This is one pretty useful thread and most of us have a myth regarding the EMDs..Hopefully you will place an honest update.

Soon i will open new service so i will get money for this case study and i will open new theard. Now im looking for aged domains.
Best if i would find .pl domain cause i wanted to all my domains (except .info) were .pl - they are just way cheaper than com,org or net.

Thread name fail. See, when you post "emd power case study" as the title of the thread, people click through thinking they'll see a ... you know ... emd power case study.

You should have named the thread "might possibly do emd case study if I earn enough money to afford a couple domains, and enough people saying go for it". I would have suggested sticking "on an impossible to rank for keyword" in there but that would make it too long.

There are so many variables when it comes to this and I can't even begin to start counting all the fails I'm seeing so far.

Ok well just so you know, opening a service is going to cost $97 for a Jr. VIP membership + $20 for a thread. (point being if you can't afford domains you might not be able to afford starting a service).

Wait wait wait. You're going to test out how various domains compare to each other, and you're going to do this by using aged domains. Do I even have to explain why this is failing before you're even starting?

So you get a 3 year old aged EMD .com, a 2 year old aged .net, a 1 year old aged .org, a brand new .info ... blah blah ... stick unique content on them, I'm assuming get backlinks to them. So when they start ranking, how will you know EMD does better than non-EMD or dashed EMD when all your sites are different ages? Maybe they're ranking differently because they're different aged.

And if you don't know that the age should be the same, you probably don't know that the content should roughly be the same, the backlinks should be the same, the link velocity should be the same, (everything should be the same) so when one ranks better then the others, you say "ah-ha! it was because of the EMD".

Does this kind of test need doing? Sure, would love to see it. But if its going to be worth anything, the only differing factor should be EMD, semi-EMD or non-EMD.

I'd negative rep you for misleading information and trying to raise money against the rules if I had the power. This test can be done for less than $200.

I'm actually looking forward to his service. Wants to see what service he can offer..

Guys, sorry for bad title. If some mod can change it,please do so.
I didn't mean i don't have enought money for domains, cause i do so sorry for that.
I don't have enought time to do that yet and i need a bit more money cause i want to attack mid competition keyword - "seo <city>".
thanks

You got me really worng. I will buy brand new domains and one aged domain and we will see if it makes a difference.

So the money would go towards financing your website and not the actual project.. Sigh..

I want to acquire two targets at one time. If you guys preffer that,i can try another keyword - just tell me which.
