EMD or Similar for Niche Site?

Hey Guys,

So there's a keyword I rank to rank for and the #3 is an EMD with no backlinks, the #1 is a slight variant with 20 RD's. Example:
#3: productname.com
#1: ultimateproduct.com

I'm going to get in the niche too, would you suggest using an EMD or go with something broad?

From my experience, right before the Fred Update. EMD still ranked better for me, Even tho its been said that it does not matter anymore. Id say go with the EMD..

Your backlink profile and on page optimization matters a whole lot more.

If you're trying to rank I would focus on those two more than anything.

I prefer PMD, part of the keyword with something generic as domain. For example dietgeek.com

I think EMDs still have its place when it comes to SERP. And especially if it's a local domain with EMD - that will definitely have a lot of priority when ranking in a local region in that particular area. Furthermore, a .com EMD is rare, and that may also be the reason it has a slight edge when ranking.

see. Thats why I dont "think" when doing SEO. I test. Called first hand experience. Trumps broscience and guruadvice big time.
