Hi guys given the latest google search updates, if you have to choose for your money site a domain, It's better choose a Old Domain or EMD domain?
    Thanks

    EMDs were fairly devalued recently.

That said, people are still seeing some funny results with certain EMDs ranking high for no reason. It's fair to say that eventually they aren't going to count for much if not already.

    So, I'd go with age

EMD will always be in play. You must remember that the names themselves are the value of the domain at first. It's the easiest way to tell what a website is about. Think of EMD like a bigger keyword in your content. This is what google does now, it puts the EMD in your content and judges it as a keyword. SO GO WITH OLD EMD and hit gooogle webmaster and delete spammed links.

EMD's are still useful but if I had my choice an older domain would be more efficient.

If you can get an old EMD, then go for it.

Yeah, emd works very well, but mostly in the keyword it is in the domain, you will get better results with an appropiate domain aged and high pr.

Just experiment by yourself you will know better.

    Good luck.

Emd for low comp niches = cheaper and effective
Aged domain for medium and high comp. Niches.

After all these updates emd is looking having same priority as other domains, high quality backlinks is all matters. You can gain aged site, that have an added advantage.

EMD's are a marketers next choice after a brand name domain.

for example if you're selling vibrating dildos named "dilbrator" but "dilbrator.com" is already taken and "vibratingdildos.com" is not, no matter how much thought you put into it, buying an aged domain that has no RELEVANCE to your product will be a bad choice.

A lot of people here, and even Google, like to stress the fact that SE traffic is all about RELEVANCY, but I guess that an EMD is not so RELEVANT to your product as an old domain would be. How the hell do you sell VIBRATING DILDOS with a domain name "electronuclearpowerplants.com" is beyond my grasp... although if the dildos you're selling would be powered by nuclear energy and you would dedicate a part of your website to that fact I'm guessing you'll be able to rank that domain for searches like "VIBRATING DILDOS".

All in all a domain name is nothing without content that's relevant for your desired niche and search terms. NO! You will not be able to sell VIBRATING DILDOS just because you have a domain called "vibratingdildos.com" and NO! you will not be able to sell them just because you have a 30 year old domain that has no RELEVANCY to your niche.

One thing on EMDs from my experience is now to avoid anything that could be considered a brand, or close to a brand (hyphenated, etc) that you do not actually own - seem to be pretty heavily discounted by G.

Separately - an EMD can lead to appearance of over-optimization, so that is worth thought.

As I see it, aged domains are 2 things compounded - a domain that has age, which has worth in its own right; and a domain with inherited backlinks, of variable worth.
