    Hello fellow BHW members!

So I was recently staring a Niche Website and I have heard a lot about Exact Match Domains not working anymore with Google these day. What are your Experienced with Keywords with EMD? Does EMD matter anymore? If not, what do you think should be the right name for a better optimization and how do you suggest to tend to use the primary keyword?

I still see positive results from them.

Is there any actually left? That being said, i do see many finishing on expired domains, but some of the choices of emd are terrible. It would really put someone off clicking on them. It may take a bit longer to rank a branded name website, but its certainly easier to find one, and also easier to leave contextual links for as they stand out more.

There are many left but I know where you are coming from with the "terrible EMDs". For quick results, I think the EMDs are still effective. For a brand name, you can even change then niche if one doesn't work, don't you think?

They definitely still work. They may not get the weight from search engines that they did in the past, but you can absolutely still rank them. With that said, I prefer broader domains for most of my sites these days. I like the ability to expand further into a niche down the line.

In the instances where I decide to use one I always make sure to check the history to make sure that it hasn't been picked up and abused in the past.

There are too much Debates on EMD, Some Succeed, some Failed. Take a Brandy or Good Domain Name & Start Optimizing.

As far as I can see, for main keywords this does not seem to give any help anymore, but for niches, I can still see a little help, even if this is much less than a few years ago.

Now I prefer choosing a name that can be reminded easily instead of an EMD.

EMD's, they work wonders before. Now they have the same weight as an ordinary domain after the google panda and pengiun updates. Its like Getting backlinks un-naturally and being hit by penguin. EMD is not a brand you should build your own brand instead

In my personal opinion, it still does miracles for me. Although, the shine has gone but yeah, it definitely adds few ounces to boost my serps.

Again, it depends on the niche you working on. But it's highly recommended NOT to go with EMDs for long term blogs. For churn-n-burn blogs, I still see many people rockin' Google with EMDs. So at least I'm not alone in this vicinity. Give it a shot and experience it for yourself! :)

EMDs will help you rank for that keyword, but it isn't enough to just have an EMD. You still need to build a good quality website with backlinks.

EMD is good for small website where all your articles is around one keyword

However, you should be pretty good at on page seo to balance your usage of keywords and don't hit overoptimization penalty

I have a question regarding this actually. If I have an EMD domain that gets traffic from Google, especially two pages, but it is a very narrow niche, can I create a new domain that is much broader and 301 the EMD to this domain without losing ranking? I believe 90-99% of link juice is transferred in a 301, so only little ranking will be lost, is that correct? Or am I better off creating the new domain and post different content on the two websites?

While Google has set out to handle exact match domains(EMD) of questionable quality, it appears this is a SEO strategy that may even now work.

But, Online achievement does not rely on upon the domain name. At any rate not from a specialized SEO point of view.

Obviously, there are different advantages, for example, marking and branding esteem, however the variable 'Keyword in the domain name' as a SEO strategy has lost its impact over late years.

    Good luck!

I think exact match domains still work but you should not spam it. Keep good anchor diversification and build quality links only.

You can't see positive result only with EMD. You should do more work like getting high quality links etc...

Yes, it still metters but not allways. Seems like it gives less results when there is really big competition.
