What are your thouths on exact match domains for low competition/low search volume keywords. Do EMDs still rank for those?

EMD's are ranking great, don't listen to people who write them off completely. You do however have to be careful with your on page setup. You can have bluewidgets.com with ten pages optimized for bluewidgets. Vary the targeting of the pages or posts around LSI words related to your main keyword the LSI is aimed at. That way you won't risk an over optimization penalty.

EMD's still works great, if you are targeting small niche sites.

i am personally witnessing some EMDs kicking ass with just a bunch of links with anchor phrase same as their target phrase. It is a double edged sword though. Years or even months down the road, when ratio of links with exact target phrases kicks up a red flag to a google algo, the site might fall apart.

So, have that in mind.

Yes EMD's rank . If your niche is non-english its even better .
I have ranked around 5-6 emd's just by web2.0's spammed by ser .
For one keyword on which i was working for my friend had just 500 monthly exact and it ranked on pole position with just a 1000 word article . He managed to get around 10 calls within a month .Tough never managed to repeat the feat again .

I've seen some good results for ranking EMD's. As long as they are low competitive or geo specific

EMD with good on page optimization still works for low competition keywords.

i am ranking a site with EMD on 2nd page of google. its a 2 months old site and the Keyword has medium competition.

Read threads about how to rank EMD and Backlink stretegies here.

Yep, I had a local EMD for a local keyword ranked really fast with no backlinks. :D

This is true. EMDs shouldn't be forgotten or dismissed entirely.

But you do definitely have to be careful with them. Don't ONLY target that word and don't overoptimize for it. Treat it as though it's your brand name and optimize for related keywords mostly instead so that you naturally rank for the site/domain name, too.

Of course, EMD is still working fine if you are targeting a few keywords. EMD's are still getting a boost.

EMDs still work, however if you're serious about your website then don't go for EMD.

EMDs definitely still work. Develop stellar content for your page and get some social strength behind it.
