I was wondering, when you guys starting to build an authority site. Will you use emd or something else?

In my opinion authority site needs an authority name. EMD should be only for niche sites your are looking to "rank and forget".

On the ahrefs blog I read that EMD is a negative ranking factor these days.

Only use EMDs for churn and burn sites

If you have good off page seo you can rank EMDs as easily as none EMD domains.

EMD is too 2008. Don't worry about domain names anymore, just make sure it's ,com and sounds decent.

I don't usually go for EMD but 2 recent sites of mine are EMD and are ranking well. With proper SEO of course.

I'd suggest going for a brand name though
