What are your views on buying an exact match .com domain with 15,000 average monthly searches as an investment to flip in a few years and maybe setup a site to flip affiliate products in the meantime.

Its a product like " coat hanger " but not this product.

How much type in traffic should you expect on a emd for a product?

Im thinking worst case scenario you could always flip domain again after a few years and get your investment back.

I know googles not ranking emds but emds are still good for branding.

Who told you that you can't rank EMD?
It is not that easy as before but you need to think harder to do that ;-)

What I meant to say is that an EMD does not have the advantage like it used to with google rankings. You used to be able to throw up a wordpress site with a couple of pages and become front page on google for an emd keyword.

I think a 2 word keyword match like "double bed" for example is brandable and could be good for making affiliate sales for the product name.

The cost is $2000 for the emd domain. Its a product name like sandwichmaker dot com but not that product name.

Wondering if a product keyword emd would be worth investment in the domain. Not sure how much type in traffic would be gained but surely a product name emd would attract more affiliate sales. Has anyone has any success with this using a product emd?

EMDs are not useless - it is only that they are not extra useful nowadays. Buying a $2000 EMD is just not worth it in the present times - imho - but then, that is what I think....

Good way to get a ban hammer..

But seriously id rather visit a site called product.com than productxyzzzz.tublr.wikipage. com

An emd adds authority and also is good for branding. Imagine an advertising campaign for coffeemachinewarehousex dot com as opposed coffeemachines dot com. The emd will be easier for customers to remember so they come back to buy again..and again.

not worth imho, just get simple domain like thekeyword.com..

and spend the 2k, for linkbuilding and content, you can make authority site on 2k.

Is type in traffic dead?

Type in traffic will never be dead. Check estibot.com for type in score.

and EMDs are very very helpful, still the biggest relevant factor if played with well.

If you're prepared to work on adding good content to it and monetising the site, and you have the $2000 to invest, then sure. That many searches every month is something to be reckoned with and if you can make an authority site then you should more than make your money back one way or the other. I wish people would stop saying that EMDs are useless. They're useless if you can't be bothered adding content and optimising the site, but they're still well worth having if you're serious about using the site.

Just a quick one. Have you checked that the EMD has 15000 monthly searches? and if you have checked it on Google adwords keyword tool, is it a broad match, phrase match, or exact match? Just checking the obvious and making sure you don't buy the domain that has 15000 searches per month that turn out to be broad matches and the exact match searches are something like 300-500 and you are then wondering where the traffic is (after ranking number 1). Just making sure you are not wasting 2k.
